Please roast my 2-min product video (before we launch a huge campaign)

We're launching a AppSumo Select campaign soon, and here's the first draft of the product video.
Please roast it, tear it down, give 100% hard-hitting, no-holds-barred feedback.

What can we improve???
How do we make it more clear and impactful???

OneTake AI on AppSumo: 2-minute Product Video

Could you make the video using the product that you're describing? I think that would emphasize how much confidence you have in the product.

    1. 1

Yeah I can't make AppSumo use our product to generate the video, but when we make a version for our own website it will be edited/hosted by our own product, definitely :-)

      1. 2

Ah I see, in that case, I think the video does a good job giving an overview and describing the value proposition.

Another minor thing is at the beginning he says "imagine if you could record amazing, error-free video content on the first take, every single time." It might emphasize the product's value more up front to say something like "videos for tiktok, instagram, and youtube" instead of "video content." For me (not a video creator), I didn't quite understand what context this would be useful for until later on when he was showing that you can select horizontal or vertical output. OTOH, if you want your audience to be imagining their use case as they watch the video, maybe the original wording is fine. For a more B2C advertising video though I think the wording change might make it more impactful. Hope that makes sense

        1. 1

Ah yes, that's useful, thank you!

It's so good Sebastien! I understood all the benefits and it made me want to try it out. I think it works very well, at least for AppSumo. In other context I would love to see the product in action being protagonist.

    1. 1

      Good point, thanks @Germerlo !
I think for our own website we'll use a variant of the same script with more "product-in-action" shots and a bit of before-and-after!

One insignificant data point: the one thing that really got my attention was near the end of the video - oh, and we can automatically translate your video and dub it with your voice... and I was like YEP, that I would want. It felt a bit like Steve Jobs saying "it's neat, you can call your mom with it, write text messages... and only at the end of the video casually mentioning "and BTW, instead of buttons like other phones, it has a giant touch screen that you can scroll with your finger and it has internet and a real browser".

    1. 2

LOL, yeah, I was wondering whether they should have included a snippet of before/after to showcase that. It's a bit of a Steve Jobs / Detective Columbo mention at the moment :-D

What exactly is the discount or deal you are offering?

    1. 1

It's an AppSumo campaign so they offer a crazy LTD deal on the product. What we stand to get from it is hundreds, hopefully thousands of new users in territories where we have low penetration (US, UK, AUS, CA) so we can then use the social proof and reviews to sell actual subscriptions there.

      1. 2

Great, I understand. I just meant, your video doesn't say how much of a discount you are offering.

By the way, I am curious about doing an LTD deal of my product too. How did you go about it? Did you just contact AppSumo folks?

        1. 1

They reached out to us. I think they have a team that scouts LinkedIn and places like here for apps that already have traction, so that the campaign is an easy sell (since the product has already been validated by the market)

  5. 2

its quite clear. Why appsumo ad at start and end. I got confused at first, thinking its appsumo video. May be have it at the end.

    1. 1

Hi! The video is recorded by AppSumo themselves because the campaign runs on their platform, but I can provide feedback/ask for changes.

  6. 2

    Getting the job done

  7. 1

Please don't take this the wrong way but, I really feel like you're yelling at me haha.

    1. 1

LOL sorry for your ears :-)

Creating a video showcasing the product in action could significantly amplify the message you're trying to convey. It serves as a powerful visual testament to your confidence in the product and provides potential customers with a tangible demonstration of its effectiveness.

      Hi @Arham007
Was that a ChatGPT reply? Since your account was created minutes ago and this is irrelevant to my post, I would assume?
I'm sorry but I don't think your prompt generates very valuable spam replies.
