Please vet my idea: Print on Demand service and Marketplace for AI-Art
Hello fellow hackers, I have started working on this idea a little while ago and would not only like to share it with you, but also get your feedback and maybe even your support on it.
We all heard about AI-Generated art at this point. Think of it what you will but clearly it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Personally, I don't much about traditional graphic design, so its a really satisfying feeling to play around with prompts until I get an image that I really like.
Recently I moved into a new apartment and I've been finding myself looking for decoration. I don't know much about art, so I don't really care who is the artist behind an image - I just want something that I find visually appealing.
Long story short, I went ahead and got one of my AI-Generated images printed on a canvas to hang it up in my home. It actually came out a lot better than I expected and I think its a pretty cool use case of this technology: You can literally use your fantasy to decorate your house.
The idea I've been working on is a traditional print-on-demand service that I specifically want to target towards AI-Generated images. Together with it, I would like to launch a marketplace, where AI-Artists can offer their artwork for sale and earn a commission when someone orders a print (the collection would be curated).
It's nothing innovative, just using a new technology to get a new angle on an existing business model.

I think it's an idea that has potential if you alter it a bit. Your problem currently is that you're a hammer looking for a nail.
Do AI artists have an issue with uploading their art to traditional print on demand services? There are those that ban AI art, but plenty more that have far more users that don't ban AI art.
A better idea would be to allow people to generate AI art natively on the site and then print out their generations. Your target market might not be artists anymore, but it will be a much better use case.

We have a stable diffusion API atm, and are moving towards more models + dreambooth too. So it'll be perfect for building image generation apps

Hi Richard, thanks for your reply! That's definitely a great idea and something I have thought about as well. In any case, my first goal is to get the ball rolling and then see where I can take it. Thanks for the link, I'll definitely get back to that resource and I'll check out the Discord as well
