[POLL] How do you define "marketing funnel" - [Help me prove my point!]

Guys, we have a disagreement within the company as to the interpretation of the term "marketing funnel". For me it is quite obvious, but the reactions of my colleagues made me collect opinions from the market. Many thanks in advance for your feedback and additional comments!
PS. I will try to summarize this poll with a separate blog article - if you subscribe to https://digitalfirst.ai, I will send it to you in a week.

The marketing funnel starts when they give you the first piece of information about them - name, email address, organization, phone - whatever it is. The marketing funnel ends when they become an MQL and proceed into the Sales funnel.

Woah, that's the most interesting answer I got today and I asked a lot! :) Thank you for that!
Is your idea connected with paid/non-paid activities? Because what about users' cookies while being on your site? Is it a piece of information (since I can use it to retarget) or not? And how about paid campaigns for people who you already have in your base (Customer Match on Google Ads and Custom Audiences on Facebook) - are those sales or marketing funnel parts?

Well, it's hard to generalize this for every company. I.E. in my company, there are several different teams working on different goals. So there's no singel team that handles all paid advertisement or social marketing.

Some are focused on ROI and bringing in sales while others are hardcore working on brand uplifting. The end goal is the build a strong brand but the funnels are reall reaaally different.

Thanks for that Judith! But wouldn't you say that a strong brand is also a way to scale sales? I'm sure marketing activities are sooo different but isn't there a link, eg. brand team gets traffic on site (or increase brand queries in search, which causes greater traffic) and sales team is then retargeting this traffic making people buy?

Nevertheless - I definitely can see the idea of a lot of funnels for one brand but it has to be connected with totally different customer journey. Eg. if you have Uber, they're looking both for B2B drivers and B2C user - funnels to acquire both are totally different, I think.

IMHO: it's a term someone came up with to sound freakin' cool but in reality it's just a series of steps where someone gives you information about themselves. the best scenario and ultimate step is when you get information to CONTACT them singularly , i.e. not ad-tracking pixels to target them as part of a group
