Hey everyone,
A bunch of people signed up to my product, but not many went through user activation.
I've then emailed everyone asking for what went wrong
And none of them replied
We're talking around 14 emails.
Here's how the email looked like -
Subject : Can you tell me what went wrong? 😇
Hey!
Sai here, from x.com
Firstly, I'd like to thank you for signing up to X! 😄
I noticed you had signed up, but couldn’t create your website... 😕
May I ask what went wrong during the website creation process? What issue did you face on X?
Please reply to this email, and I’ll immediately start looking into it!
Thanks,
Sai from X
What could be going wrong here?
Offer value to them instead of just trying to extract value.
Think about the benefit of your website (why is someone signing up?) and offer to help them solve that problem, ie offer to go through the process with them on a zoom call to start their website creation.
Then you can discuss with them and see what went wrong or where your offer didn’t match their needs.
I like that approach.
"Hey Sai here, did you know you can easily start with X and with that achieve Y. I'll show you --link--"
List the potential reasons, and have them reply with a single number. You'll get replies. Also make sure you try 100 first. 14 is a VERY small sample size.
change your subject to two words
Possible options:
I'd also consider sending useful emails first. Lifecycle emails help push people along the process. "you've done X, and now you gotta do Y."
Thanks for the tips Andrew!
I still haven't got 100 signups yet, haha. Should focus on acquiring more users then!
That's not a reasonable way to find out. You need to embed a product like LogRocket (there are many of them) and then just go see what happened after a failure.
