How do you think about positioning your indie hacking projects?
This week, I found out how John Cutler, Harsha Kumar, April Dunford, and Shreya Key think about startup positioning strategy.
Here’s what they told me 👇👇👇
John Cutler - Product Evangelist at Amplitude
"I’m amazed that more companies don’t test their marketing / product positioning messaging ... like get ux research involved. Whole campaigns/positioning are dreamt up in the conference room. Before you know it...it sticks. It’s (relatively) easy to test, as well."
Harsha Kumar - Partner at Lightspeed India
"Branding and positioning are often underestimated by consumer tech startups.. Eg. a wealth product that needs to stand for credibility/trust could think blogs. Think community. Think premium, exclusivity- all help brand the product for credibility."
April Dunford - Market Strategy Expert, Author Obviously Awesome
"Pay attention to what's changed for your buyers - a shift in their priorities could have a big impact on your unique value...For example - in B2B most value props can be abstracted out to either 'Helps increase revenue' or 'Helps reduce costs'. In good times the former is always a stronger value prop than the latter"
