As an extension developer myself, I'm emailed often with offers to add tracking software/malware to my extensions. This is an old article from one of the developers of Honey doing an AMA about being approached by malware companies. Some interesting points and neat to see their perspective 6 years ago.

If you didn't know Honey was recently purchased by Paypal for 4 billion, so I think they made the right choice. If you are emailed, by these companies I suggest ignoring them.
