Hey IH,
I've been posting daily on X for the last few days about my SaaS (TourKit - AI-powered product tours).
I'm consistent with posting, creating reels, and sharing my journey.
But the results are almost zero:
Very low engagement
Almost no meaningful replies
I'm not very social by nature, so building connections in the dev community feels difficult.
Question for those who have grown on X:
What should I change?
Type of content?
Posting frequency/timing?
How to get initial traction?
Should I focus more on other platforms?
Really appreciate honest advice from people who have been through this phase.
Thanks in advance 🙏
Daily posting with flat engagement is often a channel-fit problem more than a consistency one, especially where your buyer is probably not scrolling X for SaaS tools, they're more likely in PM/onboarding communities or searching "how to build a product tour."
Might be worth a two-week experiment redirecting that same daily effort somewhere more intent-driven and seeing if that changes anything. Happy to trade thoughts on where your ICP actually hangs out if useful.
Thanks! That's a good point. My ICP is SaaS founders and developers building web apps. I've mainly been focusing on X because it seemed like the default place for build-in-public, but I think I should experiment with more intent-driven channels like Reddit and Product Hunt
Reddit and Product Hunt are the right instinct for that ICP, but it's worth going in with different expectations for each. Reddit is where reputation compounds within a specific subreddit if you show up as a commenter first, not just a poster (r/SaaS and r/webdev tend to police self-promotion pretty hard, r/EntrepreneurRideAlong is more forgiving), while Product Hunt is closer to a one-shot launch spike unless you're doing ongoing "Ship" updates.
The build-in-public content itself might work better as replies inside other people's threads, like this one, than as its own posts, since intent-driven audiences are already reading, not scrolling.
Have you tried commenting into other builders' threads as a way of testing the ICP fit before switching primary channels entirely?
I'm starting to implement your playbook, and it's getting responses from Dev, and some are showing interest in it. Thank you, men. im going to continue with this
Posting consistently is easy to measure, but consistency isn't the same thing as resonance.
If people aren't engaging, I'd question whether they're discovering a founder's journey or simply seeing updates about a product. Those are very different reasons to stop scrolling, even if you post every day.
