I'm trying to keep my expenses to the minimal without sacrificing the quality of the product too much. Hence, I decided to leverage Landen for my initial landing page, which I figured would allow me to gather feedback while I spend the next 2-3 months building out my product. Here's the landing page: https://ndx8xmyvmhwo.landen.co/
I definitely plan on adding more color (with the same color palette) and actual screenshots of the product once it's complete, but I wanted to gather thoughts on the current content itself. Is it clear to you what we're trying to achieve?
Many thanks in advance.
First thing that comes to mind is how do I know that your data is better than say, LinkedIn, or Glassdoor? The automatic document generation is a great touch!
Good question! I leverage a handful of data sources provided by such companies (including the two that you mentioned) in addition to those from federal bureaus. There's a handful of articles out there that state that Glassdoor's salary data points are much lower than what their "value" really should be, so if people are using Glassdoor for their baseline in negotiations, then they may be shooting themselves in the foot.
Additionally, LinkedIn and Glassdoor provide base salary and sometimes additional cash compensation data points, but they don't provide data on fringe benefits nor other parts that can be included in the compensation package (e.g., health insurance). Because of this, I plan to obtain information that will be leveraged to grade the other aspects of the compensation package (i.e., someone working in the tech industry with 5 years of experience and 2 weeks of paid time off may get a bad score if the average is 4 weeks of paid time off). In short, there's going to be a lot of research (and potential assumptions) done to assess the compensation package as a whole, which will be transparent to the end user if they use the paid portion of the product.
Sorry, that was a lot :) not sure if I should include any of the above in the landing page. I don't want to start off bashing Glassdoor and LinkedIn, but I also don't think I'm fully conveying the benefits of my product either.
Thoughts?
Like you said, I imagine Glassdoor and LinkedIn do lowball people to some extent, so I think marketing your product as the one that will get your true value is a great idea. One suggestion is after "Why Us?" to include an example person's data points from competitors versus the data you provide. Presumably, your estimates would be higher and also include more information, that way people can immediately tell that your offerings are in fact better.
Amazing feedback, thank you so much!
The content is clear if someone in doubt about their compensation package they can certainly find a way to re-evaluate. The resources could be extremely helpful if somehow you could check on a country / region level what employers are allowed to offer as an extra.
Yes, exactly! Glad the content is being interpreted the way I want it to.
I'm hoping to expand to other countries at some point, hopefully sooner than later. I figured I would start with the US for the scope of the MVP since that's what I'm most familiar with and optimize the product until I hit the sweet spot for the US, and then replicate the model for other countries. I can definitely start doing the background research on other countries/regions while I work on the MVP though. Thanks for the feedback!
I think it looks good and gets the reader's interest. I second @zbellay by saying that providing some indication of the data source and algorithms above the fold would be valuable. Good luck!
Awesome - thank you for this feedback! I'll definitely work on enhancing the content above the fold to better distinguish the value of the product. Again, thanks!
