Pre order landing page what should include?

I need your advise on how to create the perfect pre-order landing page for SaaS (software as a service) companies.

What should I post on my website to get a large number of people to pre-order my software service?

  • Can be demo videos
  • screenshot, GIF, photos
  • product-hunt
  • rewards

Any suggestions allowed

Thank you for all of your suggestions.

    Hi @Daniel_A!

Obviously, it really depends on your product, but here is the workflow I use to create a landing page.

    ___
    ## 1) PREPARATION:

First, before thinking of any functionality to add on your page, take some time to REALLY think about the "real benefits" on your product. For that, take your features, and ask yourself "So what?" for each. What does it means for your customer?
    Example:

It automate your customer service > Founders spend less time doing customer service > Founder have more time > They can focus on growing their company > They get more success

Once you have that for every feature, which is the one that resonate the most for your customer? That's going to be your headline.

    ___
    ## 2) DRAFTING:

Now, it's time to write. Not on VS Code, but on Google Docs. Create 4 sections:

    • Attention
    • Interest
    • Desire
    • Action

    To keep it simple:

    **Attention: **
Something short and catchy, that will directly make them feel concerned. A question is usually working well here.
    Example:

Spending too much time on customer service?

    **Interest: **
You’ve got their attention, congrats! Now you have to keep them reading. Here, talk about their current situation, what the product did for other people, or give them facts or numbers. The goal here is to show them that the product can help them.
    Example:

So, here you are… You worked hard, got your first users, and the app is growing, congrats! 👏 But now, you have a new problem; Your users, they ask you questions. A LOT of questions

    Desire:
Now, it’s time to make them feel stuff and desire your product. That’s where the magic happens. Take what you wrote in the first section, and put it here. You want your customer feel a tickling in their belly when they read that. You want them to “feel” the benefits. “Oh damn, I would love that”.
    Example:
You’ll spend less time answering repetitive questions and you get more time to focus where it matter the most: Growing your business.

If you have a testimonials, pictures or a video clearly showing the benefit of the product, add it here, a picture is worth a thousand words. Just make sure it talks about the end goal, not some technical stuff.

    Action:
This is where you’re going to ask people to join the waitlist / buy the pre-order. Tell them exactly what to do and what to expect. The less uncertainty you leave, the better it is.
That’s probably where people will run into objections, so you can also add counter-objections, social proof, scarcity or anything that can make them take action NOW.

    Example:

If all that rings a bell, click "Request access" now! Otherwise, it's ok, you can always come back later... Without the perks thought 😌

Nice, you’re now done with the writing! At least, for now. Read it, make it read it to other people, and improve it based on the feedback you get. A copy is not a one-shot thing, you iterate it.

    ___
    ## 3) DESIGN

That’s ONLY when you have your copy ready that you can start planning the design. Obviously, it’s really going to depends on what you’re selling, no products are the same, but here is a few guidelines I use:

    • Keep it simple and readable. Don’t add too much flashy stuff, you want your readers to stay focused.
    • Keep is visual. A picture/video is always better than a big chunk of text. Use with moderation tho, you want to keep the focus of your readers.
    • ALWAYS a button. Sometimes, people will want your product without reading the whole thing. If that happens, you want them to be able to find a button on their screen. Make sure there is always one visible. (Pro tip: Sticky buttons works wonder)
    • If you can find a way to make them “FEEL” the product in the design, do it. It’s going to add more complexity to your page, so if it’s not on point you’re taking the risk of creating distractions, but if you can nail it, you can create a great experience (typeform is a good example)

If you want to see a real life example, I made a landing page last week: Here is the draft and here is the final render

Lots of difference between the two after iterations!

    ----
With all that you should be able to make a nice landing page! And of course, do split-test. Sometimes, what you think is the best is not, only your customers can decide. Try different variations and see which one give you the best conversion rate. Good luck!

I am going to create a saas product a screenshot sharing website. I have seen late of people talking about product validation a landing page and get pre order before even creating an actual product. I want to know what should include in this landing page? and is it really possible people will do a pre order for a screenshot / image sharing product ?

Thanks I will take this into consideration

Hey @Daniel_A! Those are great idea. Additionally would add:

    • Value prop: What's so exciting here? Add a blurb to describe in more details a bit.
    • Be sure to highlight three features of the product but no more to keep it simple
    • Call to action: sign up using email and get a welcome note + some kind of incentive to share if possible
    • Drive traffic using various sources to increase sign ups

Hope it helps and be sure to post it once it's live!
