Pre-selling (before MVP) to validate market?
So I'm building a minimum frontend for a web app which will contain static data to showcase the main features of the product (i.e. get the idea across).
I'm doing this to be able to put in front of prospective users in hopes of ideally getting them to show interest/even pre-order/buy the product.
If the interest/credit cards are there then I'll proceed to build it all out (front/back-ends)
Does anyone have experience with this pre-selling? Did it work for you? Any tips? Anything you've heard? Am I being too naive?
i tried it once using a mockup I made on Invision. After a while, I got very frustrated because people kept trying to do stuff that wasn't ready yet or built in because Invision is not meant to be actually functional. As a web dev, it felt like I was running with ankle weights so I tossed it aside and just hacked together the MVP.
I'm planning to do the same, how did it go.
Doing exactly the same thing and will then be reaching out to user test and validate. Unfortunately first time for me too so cant give any insights.
Just bear in mind your MVP isnt a failure if they wont buy it. Make sure
to use the sales opportunity to also ask them about their typical user journey and what pains they have in your product space.
You might end up pivoting and building something better
