Privacy-First Google Photos with Amazing User Experience?

I've been a user of Google Photos for a couple of years, and I quite like the user experience overall, and that I can go through about 15 years of photos with a swipe of a finger, and it's all backed up in the cloud.

But, I'm not happy about the fact that everything is unencrypted and visible to Google, and when stuff like the recent Google Photos leak happen, you get kind of a negative feeling of the whole thing.

I feel like there are a couple of secure alternatives out there, but none of the ones I've seen have had really stellar user experience, but are more for nerds that are okay with a mediocre user-experience. I don't want to self-host. I don't want to pick a storage provider. I just want a seamless experience of looking through my old videos and photos.

I'd like to use a service that puts privacy first but doesn't compromise on the user experience.

What do you think about that as an idea?

I think my biggest concern would be if it's possible to provide that at a price point where people would be willing to pay for it. Storage / bandwidth ain't cheap when you're talking about hundreds of GB's worth of data.
