Product Feature Database

An idea of creating a site for software comparison (not so much for software ranking, but more for comparison and exploration). It would be similar to sites like capterra . com or trustradius . com which are too broad as they cover hundreds of different software categories that are not directly comparable, i.e. from CRMs to graphic design products to project management software, etc.

What i am proposing is to create a similar platform that would focus on only one niche (e.g. accounting software) and would do a much more in-depth analysis and comparisons of various accounting products with very fine grained filters to be enable a very in-depth comparisons.
Plus it would have discussion forums, and the ability for users to submit their own reviews/comparisons/products/etc
Basically it would a platform created by accountants for accountants, i.e. a "product feature database".

There are surely accounting-related forums that existed for decades, but with new products emerging regularly, it might be difficult for businesses to navigate through the massive amount of information.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Also, do you think it would be a violation of terms of usage if i post references to various brand names / software products?

PS: accounting is just an example, it could be any other software category.

Idea sounds pretty solid, I've navigated hundreds of websites looking for solutions for my needs.

Sounds amazing. every niche needs sites like this. I work in influencer marketing. I made influenceweekly.co and there's already a "competitor" InfluencerMarketingHub.com but their reviews are terrible. I'd rather build my own, similar to what you said.

Even niche's with existing review sites need new, fresh voices.
    Go for it.

Thank you for your reply @AndrewKamphey :)
do you think that vendors of those software products might not like the fact that i would be using their product names on my website without their permission? For your site do you ask permission to reference a particular piece of software / product / brand name?

        What permission do you need?
every software product you review: Email them. Tweet Them. Link them to it.
They'll put it on their landing page to link to.
Send them a badge of honor or dishonor :)
