I was hesitant at first and really delayed launching AI Diary on Product Hunt until I was sure the product was good to go.
I scheduled the launch 2 weeks in advance, prepared really well for today too. Weirdly, as the clock struck 12:01AM PDT, here is what happened:
if you have a few minutes to spare, i'd really appreciate your support! 🙏🏻
Here is the launch link - https://www.producthunt.com/posts/ai-diary
I upvoted you, but the good news is that your core audience probably isn't on PH anyway. Have you been able to identify any existing daily-diary or journaling communities? Probably a better source of users and time than PH, right?
that is very very valid. i've had a difficult time finding these users honestly. couple of subreddits , but they are mostly for physical journals and aren't even allowing any posts to exist on there that promote something like this. i've thought of disguising it as a blog post about journaling.
do you have any ideas?
There are some personal blogs that come up from a Google search of "Daily Journal." You could try reaching out to them and see if you can negotiate a way for them to edit their post with a mention of your product.
My initial guess would be that a lot of journaling or diary communities would be on platforms that skew older than Reddit. IE: Facebook.
These are just off the top of my head. Reddit tends to be really enticing to founders since they're often users of the platform and feel comfortable there, but it's an extremely hostile platform to promote on.
You have limited bandwidth as a founder, so it's worth it to resist your own biases and try to think of strategy as if you were an advisor to your own project.
Imagine you stopped working on the project and years later another founder came to you in the same situation, what would you advise them to do?
This is a good point. What is the core demographic on Product Hunt? Is it mostly dev and SaaS folks?
yup, and tech enthusiasts who'll mostly try your product out of curiosity and then never come back
I saw it showing up on the homepage, somehow low-positioned, need to scroll down a bit.
it took forever to show up. launch dashboard still messed up though. and their support isn't responding.
