Product Hunt with a Twist

FocusedLaunch was born from my own desire to build and launch a project in a short timeframe. As a solo developer, I've had issues in the past with limiting my project scope and getting caught up in the details. You can spend 2 years perfecting every aspect of your idea, but if nobody wants it, what's the point? So, I set out to create a unique launch platform, that focuses on moving quickly and launching early. Create your product launch before starting any work and submit within a 30-day timeframe. If you complete the challenge, your launch will be featured on the site. This is meant to be the first step in your launch journey - validate your idea with your audience or move on to the next!

Thanks for posting. I would not use this unfortunately.

Having a short launch time for a niche idea is key -- I agree. However, the only real way to validate an idea is if you get paying customers. You get paying customers by launching and then marketing for sales. There is no substitute for this, unfortunately.

Appreciate the feedback. The poll was maybe a little misleading by asking if you would use it to validate your idea. The validation aspect would become more relevant as more users join, but for now, enforcing a short launch time is the primary focus.

OP, what does this service do differently than what is already out there?

Other launch platforms (Product Hunt, BetaList, etc) have you submitting your fully launched and polished product. On FocusedLaunch, you submit your product launch before starting any work. This is a simple form where you define your priorities/goals/business pitch. You will then have 30 days to complete your launch, submitting a valid link, photos, description, and details about your development experience. If you do not complete it, it will not be posted in the launches list. Think of it like a hackathon with the failure condition being that you wont get to promote your product on the site. It's meant to shift the developer perspective from only launching once every single feature is completed, to going live and getting in front of users with only the most important features. Let me know if it makes sense or you have any suggestions!

I see. So there is an added perspective which differentiates it from ProductHunt. That is good. Can this be communicated more clearly though? The 30 day time limit is a key piece of information in the communication.

Absolutely. I also wanted to focus more on the development-launch experience rather than just the promotional aspect of PH, in the "Journey" tab here
