Product idea brainstorming/framework

Hi everyone - first time poster, but a long time podcast lurker.

I'm a software engineer, mostly handling OPS/SRE work these days. I've forever wanted to have my own business and swear that all I need is a product to create. Over the years my critical views on how things can fail etc etc have served me very well and progressed my career rapidly.

When it comes to creating a product idea it gets really hard for me because I go right into what's not going to work etc etc. I'm really seeking to working on the "boring" things. I also have an issue at time wrapping my head around certain industries because I've not stuck to single industry in tech (defense, consulting, loyalty restaurants, content marketing, public transit and now security).

I got moving on a business a few years ago where I was trying to make a wedding project management and market place but ultimately quit it before I got too far down the road because... well I don't care about weddings and it felt like a chore so it wasn't a good fit. The idea came from me being frustrated with wedding planning.

So now the question: Can someone recommend reading, frameworks, or something similar to help my get my head into the space of product idea creation or something like that? I'm really trying to stick to something that's an issue for me but I seem to have a bit of block there. My only ideas keep coming back to things like:

• CI that doesn't suck
• docker/container supply chains
• monitoring dependency releases (there's already an IH co working on that)
