Product Management on demand - Roast my landing page, pls

Hello Indie Hackers,

Would love some feedback on the LP/site for my on-demand product management service - Product Delights.

Let me know your thoughts on both design and messaging.

it's in a figma file:

[the figma link removed: received lots of great feedback + actioning it now. thanks to everyone who commented. Product Delights]

Thanks!

Can you "delight your bottom line"? Maybe add another verb there like "boost your bottom line"?

    1. 1

      yes we can! :)

I know what you saying tho. will give it some thought. trying to play with the name Product Delights and the tagline at the same time, which seems to throw up issues.

      wordsmithing is hard

I really like the overall feel of this but do have a few problems I think would really help your conversion if you fix:

    1. The big one is the offering. Like many have said, it’s hard to tell what’s being offered and considering most landing pages that look this way sell a product, it’s easy to get very confused. I think product management on demand is something that requires education so instead of “delighting users” I’d suggest pitching it as a solution to the real problem - that would also answer the question of what this problem is.

    2. To me the page feels a lot like you’re selling a product so I really want to see screenshots. I know it isn’t so I’d suggest changing the copy to do us on you and not features.

    3. I love the clean design aesthetic but in some areas it feels unfinished. For example, the lifecycle page feels wasted. How are you really helping (and not just captions)?

I hope this is helpful! Landing pages, especially where you need to highlight the problem, are very challenging to get right and very easy to get almost right, which isn’t right.

      Hi @rel

Thanks for your input and Qs about my LP.

I've taken a lot of it onboard and update the copy. would you mind glancing over the updated version to see how it conveys my offer? no worries if not tho - I'm sure you've got a lot on already.

      thanks a lot

thanks a lot. very useful pointers

the figma file is a draft. so some parts are more finished than others. clearly, the lifecycle section needs more work.

agree that this offer would require eduction.

how do you solve the problem like an on-demand product management offering

  3. 2

It's not clear what you are selling

    1. 1

out of interest - what's your expertise, mate? ta

    2. 1

      selling on-demand product management expertise.

      1. 1

Where on the page would I find that?

        1. 1

third line. right under the tagline which is two first lines

          1. 1

Oh, it's ambiguous, I was reading it as your product/service is on demand, use what you need

            And your service is

Product management expertise (which I did find confusing as well)

Maybe depends on what traffic you would get in, could be ok I guess, or others could be confused as well

Also what else on the page supports that this is the focus and what is actually on offer?

            1. 1

              Hi @hatkyinc,

section 2 - key pain points
section 3 onwards covers what's on offer thusly:

              • Full Product lifecycle
              • examples (you'd have designs here if it was a design service) + testimonials
              • how it works
              • a list of services (product vision, strategy, metrics & more)

'product management' is super common like 'design'. perhaps 'product management expertise' is a bit too formal, maybe

basically, it's an adaptation of the design subscription model for product management

              1. 1

What's your definition for "on demand products"? The ones I know don't have a full development cycle to it just gets more confusing on what you mean

Look, I might not be and not understand your target customers, but I think this page isn't telling a cohesive story, I can't understand who is this for, what functions are they normally doing, what are you going to do for them, in terms of clarity this page performance is pretty bad in my eyes, I might not be representative of your target audience but I can't explain to a 3rd party what you do

                1. 1

                  interesting food for thought

how about this as an explanation:

it's an adaptation of the design subscription model for product management

                  1. 1

Look if you just say "product management" I know what that is, than I'd ask what are you different from all the others

"design subscription model" you mean your taking a retainer to do service work for customers?

I feel like you use a different vocabulary than what I commonly read

                    1. 1

kind of a retainer. the in-vogue terminology is 'subscriptions'.

anyways, thanks for your feedback. very useful

  4. 1

What service would product management service specifically include?

    1. 1

      offering the following:
      Problem-solution fit
      Product Market Fit
      Metrics + Analytics
      PLG + GTM
      Product vision
      Product strategy
      Product ideation
      Roadmapping + prioritisation
      Market + competitive research
      Holistic UX/UI reviews
      User research (on existing data)
      and more

lmk if you want to learn more

  5. 1

Who is your target audience? What's their problem? Do you already have customers?

    1. 1

with this one I'm targeting startups and scalups that don't have much - or any - in-house product management expertise.

also thinking how something similar could be offered to IHs, as a separate offering I reckon

the core problem is that the product isn't as successful as the founders/company leaders would like it to be, which could be for many reasons. And Product Delights help understand and tackle these reasons.

      1. 1

Now you see how you used a simple language to describe your product? Copy paste your answer to landing page and it will work 100x better!

I often use a technique "write a message to a friend" trying to explain something to my friend, or having in mind specific person (in design they call it Personas).

Are you sure about the pricing? Have you tested it? Will "the founders/company leaders" that have "product isn't as successful" be willing to pay that amount of money?

Why should they trust you? Do you have successful case studies? Can you show the numbers?

Also in your case probably the best way to sell your service is to offer a free 1h consultation.

        1. 1

          thanks for your comments.

my case studies are under PD: Proven results for your business.

for sure will need to do some testing of my prices, although these are comparable to design subs prices and, typically, product expertise is on par and even higher price-wise.

  6. 1

It's so cool. But It seems to be missing something.
Maybe add background image which show your product in first screen is more intuitively.

    1. 1

      thanks v much.

my product is a service - product management on demand

Some design elements, like FAQs with a sidebar containing a call to action (CTA), might appear visually disconnected from each other.

    1. 1

how so? and how would you say this can be improved?

      1. 1

You can add CTA below the FAQs section and then the FAQs section will be more visible and expandable.
