Product of the Day on Fazier: What I Learned from 45 Visits and 0 Sales (#buildinpublic Day 6)

At the beginning of this week, I took a leap and launched Find Me A Laptop on Fazier—a platform for discovering new tech products. I remember hitting “submit” and feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.

To my surprise, the project was named Product of the Day and featured on the homepage. For a while, I watched as 48 visitors landed on the site—my biggest traffic spike so far. It felt like a win… until I realized none of those visits turned into purchases.

That’s when I realized: visibility is great, but I need to reach people who are actively searching for a laptop, not just browsing. My main takeaway? It’s time to focus on SEO and social media to attract users with real buying intent.

Every launch is a lesson. This one showed me exactly where to put my energy next.

Love the honesty here. It’s easy to assume visibility = success, but your post is a great reminder that traffic doesn’t mean much without intent.

I’m working on a small tool myself and this made me think more about “where” I’m launching — not just “that” I’m launching.

Thanks for sharing your lessons 🙌

Absolutely, intent matters so much more than just numbers—thanks for the reminder and best of luck with your tool!

This is a big issue with most forums, honestly! In most cases, the visitors may not be actively looking for solutions to the problem that you're trying to solve, or they might not be in the proper buying journey.

Have you tried any conversion tools? Simple features like stock alerts or personalized recommendations based on user behavior can dramatically boost those conversion rates.

The zero sales hurt, but you're getting valuable data most builders ignore. Focus that energy on SEO targeting people ready to purchase, not just discover.

Totally agree! Haven’t tried conversion tools yet, but focusing on SEO and short videos on Instagram and YouTube to reach buyers. Thanks for the tip!

Exactly same happening with me. I created a post on IH and got around 90 hits on day one it self but converted ZERO

Even today I get views but no sales. That’s how it is. While got feedback from many that the product is nice. Good luck and all :)

Totally get you! It’s encouraging to see traffic, but turning views into sales is a whole different game.

This is incredibly smart, have you considered adding a multi-step form or social proof to boost conversions?
