ProductHunt: Have you had a positive/negative impact on your business? If so, why did/didn't it go well?
And I suppose the bigger question is: can ProductHunt make or break your business?
In other words: do you think that if your ProductHunt launch does/doesn't go well, it can have a major impact on the business?
I'm live today on ProductHunt after a long time, which got me thinking about this:
• I see #1 Products of the day that are dead, years (sometimes months) after it
• Flashiness doesn't seem to correlate to profitability - not all the time, at least
• That said, other people say that still, even 2y after the launch, the #1 referral source is PH for traffic
What's your experience been like with PH?

NO PH does not make or break your business. Can it help? Absolutely it can help. Not making it to #1 on it mean your business is DOA? No way
Honestly after launching on PH last week, getting 70 upvotes and 15 comments, and seeing effectively 0 useful conversions, I'm upset at the whole PH ecosystem.
The most annoying thing was that I did "everything right", and probably 60 of those 70 upvotes were from existing users, friends, family, and traffic from my badge on the homepage.
PH does a TERRIBLE job of showing their users the "hottest" or "rising" products. To me, it felt like you need to manufacture 300 upvotes artificially and only then will people see you on the front page and give you additional votes.
Are you sure this wasn't just due to the type of product you were posting? Seems the range of products that do well on PH is pretty narrow.
