Producthunt is getting more cringe!
I am seeing a lot of weird updates on product hunt lately, instead of being a simple product directory, it's trying those weird things... Not the vibe I like.
Now, They write things like "Your next favorite thing 👇" and "Is the next 🦄 here?" at the top.... It's just weird and excessively proactive. Can't you learn anything from hacker news.
Just saw something like "YOU'RE ON A 9-day streak 🦄" at the side. Do I care? No, I don't. It's annoying.
Also, most of the members are just hr managers or marketers, who want that following and points so that when they launch they make it to the front page.
The discussion section is full of questions from their own company employees, who are trying to boost engagement by asking "self-help books like questions" EVERY SINGLE DAY.
The only good thing with ph nowadays is that it is the go-to place for product discovery which is also going the wrong way, many good products are lost just because they don't have a popular hunter.
The "newest" tab is further hidden and sometimes it shows me something like "For you" which is not even the "featured" products? Are you joking at me... I don't are what you think I will like... Just let me see what's going on
Is this because of the new CEO or something?
The thing that annoys me the most on PH is that if you fail the first few hours you aren't even on their homepage for the "today" listing.
This leaves no chance for your product to be discovered by new people who are just waking up in different timezones.
The only solution is to have an audience somewhere so you can promote it the full day.
Of course, you could say that the product just wasn't good enough, but it's heavily impacted by your audience size.

Established developers with good followers posting same product with every new version release.
