Productivity and Habits, reading list

Hey guys,

I have an interest in behavioural psychology and the science behind why we do what we do - and how this can be applied to being more productive and forming more positive habits.

I've read some books around this topic (and still some to read) that I've found very helpful and wondered if anyone can add to this list or recommend anything else?

The Chimp Paradox by Prof Steve Peters
Brain Rules by John Medina
The Organized Mind by Daniel Levitin
The Craving Mind by Judson Brewer
The Power of Habits - Charles Duhigg
Deep Work - Cal Newport
Rewire - Richard O'Connor
Atomic Habits - James Clear
David Allen - Getting Things Done
Thinking Fast and Slow - Daniel Kahneman
The Undoing Project - Michael Lewis
Predictably Irrational - Dan Ariely
Misbehaving - Richard Thaler
Black Box Thinking - Matthew Syed

I would recommend "Undistractable" by Nir Eyal. This book and some others from your list (Deep Work, Atomic Habits, ...) gave me the idea to build Kleermind. Observing people in my team and analyzing my own behaviour I realized we're all suffering from interruptions and distractions thus unable to provide our best work. That's how the idea came to life.

Yes, me too.. when you start questioning your own behaviour it can be really powerful - and I think we need more tools like yours to help, because even understanding the problem, overcoming unhelpful habits it's difficult to overcome.

Best of luck with your project and keep in touch with how it's going!

    Bullet Journal Method

I run my own journal for 2-3 month now and find it super helpful to organize and priorize my task and thoughts.

    Can definitely recommend Atomic Habits

Thanks, Atomic Habits is one that I haven't read yet but is on my list. The Power of Habit is good but The Chimp Paradox was sort of life changing in thinking about how I think about things, as was The Craving Mind and Deep Work - they were my faves.

I'll check out Bullet Journal Method, thank you :)

Your list of books looks good but I think you should also consider these ones:

Deep Work: Rules for a Focused Success in a Distracted World - Carl Newport
How to have a good day - Caroline Webb
Eat that frog. 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time - Brian Tracy
The instant energy Method - Allan Ting

Indeed, you can read these books https://www.managerup.com/books/best-books-focus-productivity/ to boost productivity. Probably, you can also get more details about these books from here and get more authentic points. By the way, Atomic Habits by James Clear is also one of my favourites. At the beginning of my career, I was reading it once a week.

Nice reading list you've got there @JamieGilman. If you have any of them in pdf, doc or word format or even on a website, you might want to use the elocance tool to get through them faster. elocance is a text-to-speech app that practically converts your text document into a podcast - https://www.elocance.com/en/

    Here is an interesting thing:
my product is trying to help people "turn reading into a habit": https://read15minsaday.com
one of the upcoming features is about creating and following reading lists.

This list of yours, is actually a great candidate for that. Would you allow me to put it there?

    1. 1

Sure! - it'd be cool to see some more product images of how the site works - how does it help me read more?

It tries to motivate you to read 15 minutes a day but everyday.

An average reader can read 12 average size books a year.

It provides a time tracker, taking notes on what you read, reminder mails to keep the streak and a community.

In addition to those, i am planning to have reading lists.

          👍Good luck with it
