Background:
I was surprised to see how many teams struggle to setup something very simple to track their daily work. Examples include:
- how many customers were served of each type on a daily basis.
- how many insurance policy applications were processed on a daily basis.
- how many fish was caught of each type on a daily basis.
- how many widgets were produced of each type on a daily basis.
- etc, etc...
For some reason, the work tracking functionality of whatever platform (if any) these teams are using either does not exist or is very difficult to make use of. As a result, these teams are starting to setup up the typical "Excel solutions" that are known to be unmaintainable and difficult to scale.
This tool is meant to be agnostic to what exactly the operations are. It can be anything from the above-bulleted list or more as long as the model features "different transactions", "different users/agents", and "different dates".
This tool is also meant to be dead simple - it is not meant to be "plugged" into an existing client system, it is completely stand-alone, therefore agents would be logging their work manually.
Any feedback is welcome, but mainly looking for feedback on:
- Do you also feel that a lot of teams struggle with tracking their work because they either aren't willing to use their internal tracking systems as those are too complex, or there is simply no such functionality in their internal tracking system?
- Do you also feel that such teams would be willing to use something "dead simple" - i.e. literally having agents input their own stats using a very basic interface + having a consolidated view to summarize stats across days/agents/transactions?
Few notes:
a) The "new business", "quote", "policy change", and "renewal" transaction types are just examples for the Demo purposes only. Of course, these would be customized for every client.
b) I realize that there might be a "trust issue", i.e. any agent can input any number of transactions - and report false statistics. Of course, teams that are afraid of this, should not be using this. But a "solution" to this can be to implement an "itemization" option, where each user can store a "proof of work", e.g. a link to a completed item, a case number, etc. And the team can conduct random checks on a regular basis.
c) I realize that there might be a "privacy issue", i.e. all agents can see each other's statistics, which is completely fine. The app is very customizable, and the access can be changed to private if requested.
c) I am not sure yet what the pricing model would be here (if any). I think at this stage, I am just trying to get a sense of what people think about the idea.
