Hey, folks! 😙
It’s been a while since I’ve been active on the channel. Didn’t post new content, I was just helping people in Webflow communities, but that’s it.
Some of you may know, some may not, but my main goal with the blog is to be honest and transparent, to write about the issues I face — simply put, I don’t run a typical commercial blog where I showcase how great of an expert I am, what projects I have, or post pics me being next to palm trees and telling how I landed $30K client.
That never sat well with me. When I started out, I wanted to see raw stories, real, unrefined — not Instagram or LinkedIn posts smothered in filters and corporate talk.
Surprisingly, such content is scarce, and I understand why — it’s hard for me to be completely open, let alone for others. However, I see value in it, which is why I strive to create such content. Sometimes I might not disclose or share everything going on in my life with you, but the most important thing is, I don’t lie. That’s why, in my blog, you can see my true self.
• So, what’s the point?
I’ve been grappling with various issues for quite some time now, which is why there’s been a shortage of content. Life is tough, I get it. The past six months, even more, have been tough — really tough. Right now, I find myself in the same position as I did in 2020. It’s a terrible situation. My mental health has been in shambles for a while now, and I still haven’t reached out to a therapist, though I really need to.
However, I’m working on myself. It’s a very challenging journey, but there’s no other way. I’ve finally started going to the gym — I’ve put it off for a long time. It’s helping me, mentally too. It’s a distracting me from the constant battle with inner self, barrage of thoughts, after all.
Apologies for the vague message — I simply don’t want to delve into details. I think I'll share the specifics later, but not now.
Nevertheless, I have some good news — both for you and for myself!
• I’m resuming my creative activity 🤩
I’ll be publishing blog posts, posting YouTube videos, working on my products, and sharing the progress with you!
Gonna start with a little challenge: create one post per week, at least a small one. The goal is to make it into a habit.
I think I’ve bored you already with this magnum opus of a text, so Iet’s continue to the announcements.
• What’s next content-wise? 🆕
🖥 Live build: a website for a pastry shop with interactive (generative) 3D with CMS.
Live builds are live streams where I’ll do everything from scratch — including both design and development. The streams are educational in nature, but I will mostly talk about some specific stuff. The purpose of them is not to teach something huge, like how to make this or that site, but to show the process of making specific solutions, and talk about some nuances that come up along the way. However, you can always ask questions on stream or in my group chat (https://t.me/georgychat).
The first live build focuses on Spline, so I’ll make an overview of the tool, its native integration in Webflow, and how to connect 3D scenes to Webflow CMS.
Time and date: this/next month, but I don’t know the exact date yet — I’m in the process of switching internet providers at the place I’m currently at.
▶️ Stream and cloneable: disassembling my first Webflow site — geor.gy.
I wanted to show the “insides” of my first ever project on Webflow, for a long time: too show how I designed and developed it, and to talk about how I started out.
This will be quite a chill stream! I will show you how the site is organized, we will analyze how animations work, and I will answer your questions throughout the stream.
Also, I will make this project into a cloneable, so you will be able to clone it into your Webflow workspace and do whatever you want with it!
Time and date: this month, before the live build (probably).
❓ Lesson and cloneable: a single-screen landing page on FullPage.js.
My first full-fledged lesson, I guess! I’ll tell you how to make a site where the content will change while scrolling, but the user will perceive it as if everything happens within one screen.
I’m not sure what format I’ll choose for this lesson yet — most likely just a single video. If you have any suggestions or questions, post in the comments below this post!
I think this will be a really interesting project, that you can also clone into your workspace and work on it however you want. Just, please, don’t present it to clients as your own — or you’ll get into troubles.
Time and date: TBA.
That’s it!
I’ll talk about my projects in the next post!
Good luck to you as you get back into things! Hopefully it helps as you work on your mental health.
Thanks for the support! It’s really tough to live with mental health issues, and in my case it really slows me down tremendously in terms of working on my personal projects (or even doing chores and stuff like that).
You bet. Finding the right balance of things is very difficult, especially for a lot of us in this community. Everyone has their own set of challenges but one thing remains true for mostly everyone...it's hard.
Yeah, we just need to keep on keeping on 🔥
Amidst project updates, I confront mental health struggles. Despite setbacks, I push forward, acknowledging the importance of self-care. Each update represents resilience amidst adversity. It's a journey, battling both deadlines and inner demons. But with support and perseverance, I strive for progress, both professionally and personally.
Stop posting ChatGPT cringe text.
Hiya! I really appreciated reading this. This journey is not an easy one...I have been wanting to write more candidly lately about it all. However, apprehension, worry, and perhaps fear, are keeping from just going for it. You choosing to share openly has helped give me some courage. So...let's carve out this new space...because if you don't then I wouldn't have read something that helped me when I was feeling stuck and at a low. :)
Thanks for the kind words, mate 🔥
The struggle is real, but we can do it, for sure 💎
