Public Building = Trust from Early Users?

Hey builders,

I'm Kate, and we're working on Migroot.ioa service that speeds up and simplifies the visa application process by removing friction and procrastination as much as possible.

Today, I’m curious about public building—do you use it? And how?

Do you run a regular channel about your wins and failures, or do you just occasionally share insights here or on other platforms?

And what do you find interesting about other projects? Are you drawn to revenue numbers and user growth, or something else?

Most of all, I’d love to hear—do public stories like these actually influence the products you choose to use in your life?

Let’s discuss!

Hi Kate, great question. I am new to this concept of building in public. I have started using Indiehackers for posting about my SaaS. One benefit I saw interacting with others was that I could get inspired from other Indies (especially the ones who are also in similar stage as I am) and also get encouragement from them.

One key thing is that even though I admire people making a lot of money and being transparent about it, I don't think I will do the same as I feel uncomfortable in posting revenue figures. Perhaps, I may post about milestones and successes and some rough revenue figures. Anyways, as of now, my SaaS (https://www.indiehackers.com/product/clear-mail-for-gmail) is currently free to try and I haven't started the paid subscriptions yet.

Interesting, why are you hesitant to share financial metrics?

My point is that sharing exact metrics is something that I will avoid, rather, give a ball park figure. If I become quite successful, I may get the wrong kind of attention and somebody might copy me. Or worse, the recent story of an Influencer being held at gun point for her crypto on IH - I think crypto is something I will never brag about because that is the easiest one for some douchebag to go after!

One more thing to add, that you asked, public stories definitely make it more likely for me to use a product.

Migroot is an innovative platform designed to transform the often daunting process of relocation into an engaging, game-like experience. By simplifying visa applications and other essential tasks, Migroot aims to make moving abroad more manageable and less stressful.
