Q: What am I doing wrong?

I make products related to Notion. My first product was https://NotionPlus.dev and I made $241 selling 9 of them.

I published my new product today. https://NotionWebsiteBuilder.com is an info product. But I didn't get the reaction I wanted. What do you think I might have done wrong?

I told it in writing.
I put a video.
I even voiced the video with artificial intelligence.
I added images.
I put a discount coupon.

There hasn't been a single sale yet. There is a problem somewhere. I need to solve it. For example, do you understand the product? I wondered if no one understood the product. I don't know, these are all hypotheses.

you're problem is platform risk. It only makes sense to build for a platform like Notion if you're doing something really unique.

There just isn't that much demand for people building widgets for notion as notion does most of what you need already...

I have built and sold Notion templates and SAAS (Drotion - A landing page builder based on Notion) sometime back and one thing I learnt from it is "the more you distribute, the higher you will get sales/customers"

These are the distribution platforms that worked for me at that time

    1. Notion Subreddit
    2. Notion made simple Fb group
    3. Product Hunt
    4. Notion communities on Twitter and
    5. Notion templates Fb group.

Try posting in these groups and channels and see if you find any customers.

Also, I made a list of 60+ places where you can launch your info product and get initial customers. Dropping the link below, feel free to check it out 👇🏼

I didn't share it on Facebook. I took note of what you said. Thank you :)

I went through both the sites. I also have written about Notion at Micro SaaS Ideas earlier. So, I am aware of the Notion ecosystem.

I think you just need to give a little bit more time. For the NotionWebsite builder, you may need to tweak the messaging a little bit because at my first glance I thought it's a website builder and then I realized its videos on Notion products training. May be "Guide to Building a Website on Notion" can be changed to "Learn building websites on Notion in 12 minutes" or something like that. But overall, it's too early to conclude. You should give it a little more time.

First of all, I am a long time subscriber of your e-newsletter. :) Your comment made me happy. :)

I did what you said. I even printed the "guide" text dozens of times, even in the thumbnail. I changed it many times to write the correct text.

In the PH Topic option it said "Website Builder" and "Productivity". I just removed them. Again, I just changed the name of the product to "Notion Website Builder Guide". Maybe it was all about the PH name.

For me, for example, I do not know what Notion is, and I do not use it. On the other side, I know what a website is, and I know why I need it. So my question would be, why would I build a website with Notion in the first place? I am not sure your website answers that question. I never play any video explainers on websites, either.

Second, how do you market your product? If nobody knows it exists, and if nobody lands on your page, there is no point of saying it works or it does not work.

    1. 2

I'm doing buildinpublic on twitter. I try to be present in communities and mention it to my audience once in a while. But you are right. There are deficiencies in the part why you need it. I thought everyone knew about Super.so. It wasn't that well known. We learned. It's been an experience. :)

Hey I went through the site. As someone who's looking for platforms to build a quick landing page I thought your product would be great (since I've never used Notion to build a website only for project management). But as I was scrolling through your landing page, I realised that you're actually a platform that teaches how to use different tools out there already.

As someone who wants to build a website via Notion, the thing I personally look for are templates. Based from what you have I'm not really sure why I'd pay for this info product if these other providers already give me access to free demos, the FAQ section, and customer support when I purchase their templates (that they try to market as drag and drop/easy to use)?

Probably I'm not in your target audience. Maybe you could call yourself "A Guide To Making Websites With Notion" vs an info product? Kind of like how there are multiple Medium posts of "How to Use Seaborn for Visualization". There are tons of these posts but there's always one that I go back to time and time again. Your product could be the go-to guide for anyone who want to make a Notion based site despite all the existing resources.

I thought everyone knew Notion and everyone knew Super.so or Potion.so. That's why I thought they would recognize it when I put the logos directly. That didn't happen. :D There was a lot of confusion because of the name of the product. As far as I can see, it did.

My take on this would be: there is just too much going on, and the paragraphs are too long (users won't read it).

In the initial message, I would maybe focus more on the exact problem that this is solving and create a page for each specific guide.

    Something along the lines of:
Learn how to make your website using Notion in no time!

Why I would focus each page on just one guide:
If I want to build a website using Notion or Super.so - all the other guides are irrelevant to me so I don't really need the bundle, right?

I would maybe do a quick experiment setting up a page for Notion and test from there.

    Best of luck!

I saw it on Producthunt and thought it was an official product (new feature) by Notion. When i was on your website i saw it was not official and thought it might be a scam and left.

    1. 1

Wow, this is the first time I've seen such a perspective. I can assure you that I am not a scammer. :)

  8. 2

How many visitors did you get? I guess you won't expect to get sales on launch, first days. Let people use your product, become engaged, talk to them and when they become loyal, then they will buy it if they need.

    1. 1

The products I've launched so far have been sold, and this I was surprised when it didn't.

  9. 2

    Hey Ugur,

Do you have a specific target audience you are selling to?

    1. 1

No for this product. Nobody bought it. So I'm trying to pinpoint the problem. Like the Titanic. It didn't sink because it was tied to one thing. It sank because of more than one thing. :) It's only been 1 day, but it feels like it. :)

      1. 1

I say this with nearly two decades of marketing and sales experience - this is what you are doing wrong.

If you don't have a specific target audience you are selling to then you have no way of a) finding them (where do they hang out?) and b) convincing them to buy your product (you don't know their problems or desires).

Every business needs a specific target audience they are selling to.

As the saying goes - if you sell to everyone, you're selling to no-one

  10. 2

It's not immediately clear what it's for, and even when you understand what it does, it's not a given that the targeted customers will be interested

    1. 1

There is a confusion of meaning. Yes. True.

  11. 2

I think the design is not the best, honestly. You kinda get the idea of the product, but it's not clear, it also feels like it's not finished yet, one of the first things you see its a bunch of icons saying "coming soon", maybe not the best approach for people ready to buy.

I would also try to probe a nice mockup image, in the end, your first product feels much more professional and the second one feels like it's from an amateur. That's just my point of view. Im new here and Im just trying to help.

    1. 1

I had made a one-year plan, but the product (NotionPlus.dev) that I should have published in January was released in February. As a result, I wanted to fill the one-month gap by quickly creating new products. However, speed does not always equate to quality, and I realized that more effort was required. Today, I am going to review my one-year plan again. It is not feasible to release two products in a single month, at least not according to my standards. (I create products that support each other.)

Thank you for your feedback! :)

Hey, My first impressions (just posting what comes to mind at first):

    1. Explanation texts are long (use chatgpt to create a summarized version).

    2. i was expecting a notion website builder when only looking at your domain. Doesn't mean this is bad, just make sure the meta description etc. is clear so expectations are straigthened as much as possible.

    3. after checking out the website, it took me some processing time to understand you're selling product-specific courses, or bundles for multiple products.

Maybe not call this an "info product", but Classes that teach you how to use Notion website builders, "Learn how to use the Notion website builder of your choice using our course" , or something like that.

That's what it essentially is/does right?

    Hope this helps.

    1. 1
      1. I removed the texts. That's better.
      2. I tried this. I edited the descriptions. I even just added "Guide" to the end of his name in PH.
      3. I tried new things but they didn't work. Prices seem very expensive. And it's a little complicated.

Essentially, what it does is it's a product of knowledge. You've been very helpful, thank you. :)

      1. 1

yw. just one more suggestion; let others "roast" your landing page. gather feedback if the message is clear, the pricing and concept and value of it is all what you as a maker think of it..

For me, this helps a lot as I'm always blinded by my own knowledge and intentions of my landing pages etc :)..

        Wishing you all the best
