Qenu 🚀 My first product on Indie Hackers!
Hey all 👋
First of all Happy 2022! I hope this will be a successful year for all of us trying to launch our side hustles and attain financial freedom 💪.
After 4 years of silently following Indie Hackers, I've finally managed to post about a project I've launched - Qenu 😃.
I'm new to posting about my ideas, goals and projects, especially with the level of detail Indie Hackers lets us do 🙈, hence would appreciate any feedback the community has 🙏. In the spirit of transparency, I've also connected my Stripe account to show the real revenue Qenu is earning 😅🤞.
As with many people with side hustles, it's been hard to find the time to work on Qenu alongside the 9-5, family and general life. Like many of you, I've had to work evenings and sacrifice weekends, but I've finally managed to do it!

I have a very inconsequential kind of suggestion, but the little rotating H1 copy (restaurant, pub, café, takeaway) caught my eye. It could be a bit more interesting — a little spicier — with additional, specific things to cycle through like food truck, bistro, brunch club, coffee shop. Helps the examples feel more grounded in the real world the more specific they get!

I'd love to hear more about your plans for reaching restaurants, cafes, etc to help them use this for their menus.
Thanks @alexhillman 🙏 - at the moment I'm relying on Google Ads, but might start reaching out to individual local places in my area. The latter approach is quite time intensive and daunting 😅.
Restaurants are notoriously hard to sell to (partly because they tend to resist software as a fix for their problems, partly because the actual money making decision maker often is hard to find) so I'd be looking for ways to reach groups of restaurant owners, if I were in your shoes I would be looking for where restaurant biz people already go for trustworthy information, resources, and info. Industry groups and associations come to mind but also maybe some the places where they shop (restaurant supply stores) and service providers (accountants and book keepers who specializes in restaurants). Getting in with any of those is likely to help you reach lots of potential customers at once through a trusted source without having to cold call every single one and get demotivated along the way!

Fantastic idea & even better landing page. I love the iPhone demo, really clean & concise.
My only feedback would be that the homepage doesn't allow you the option to pay now! A lot of businesses will be excited by this efficiency gain and the ability to track who's viewing & when.
All subscription levels show a free trial option, but you should allow those who want to pay, to pay! 🚀

So for those who want to skip the trial should be given the ability to pay straight away. I don't know why I didn't think of that 🤦♂️. Will add it to the backlog 🙂.

Shorten that time for you to get paying clients. If they've received a recommendation from another restaurant owner or whatever, why not give them the option to dive straight in and guarantee the service.

These are urls with encoded parameters, that tell the image template to render with different titles, author name etc.

I'm also building a product in the same market as you, if you don't mind me asking: How do you do your marketing?
@ric_sapasap I did all the design and video editing myself 😅. Took a couple days to get the hang of After Effects, but managed to get an animated video together.
Beyond that I just use Google Ads which I've detailed on the product page 🙂.

Why do you have a .at TLD but prices are in pound sterling?
No hate, but that confuses me personally, potentially others as well.
Hey @rainerschanung 👋, the main reason was that the .com wasn’t available. It’s quite expensive to buy, especially for an idea generating minimal revenue at the moment.
Also, it was supposed to be cool when reading a venues menu URL e.g. qenu.at/kai . It sounds like a sentence 😅.
Having said this, I also have qenu.app, maybe I should use that. 🤔. What do you think?

I think it's better than .app, but I would definitely listen to users and reevaluate if many find it confusing.
Also, I live next to Austria so maybe I'm more sensitive to the .at TLD :D
