QRpu.sh service to enable sign in with QR code, like whatsApp web. What else can I use it for?
We extracted our code that is used to send messages between a device that scanns a QR code and the device that showed the QR code.
You can try it for free. And without an account, there are just some sensible rate limits.
We used this service for a QR based login, like whatsApp web. This service should make it very easy for someone else to build something similar. A tutorial should follow.
My question is, is this service useful for other types of things? And if so how would I go about sharing it?
Some of the other things I have thought about are:
- Showing a web dashboard of data collected by a mobile app or fitness tracker. Sometimes seeing a larger dashboard for your trends is very nice.
- Sharing profile information in person. Two people can connect by one scanning a QR code on the others phone.
- Signing in to a physical location. Many entrances have tablets that one uses to register their arrival at the building. If this tablet shows the QR code then an app can scan that and automatically send the users details.
Any more, it feels like there is potential here, but it might be more a feature that a product.
It's funny that you write as I actually have a "product" that's pretty similar in principle.
I think you have some valid use cases already and if I were you I'd go on about cold calling people. Especially the 3rd point seems interesting to me.
