quality & affordable outsource development company
A friend is looking to get his site developed using Laravel. I am working on my own site and don't have time to help. Do you have any recommendation for a quality & affordable development company? From my experience, the companies from India or Eastern European countries are more affordable. I am more worried about the professionalism with the Indian companies. Any thought?
Hi, you are totally right about India, it's hard to find high-quality developers there. Concerning eastern Europe, try some companies from Belarus. I previously worked with US companies but rates are so high there. So a friend of mine recommended the company from Belarus. I asked for a trial contract and was quite surprised by the prices and quality.

Everything depends on your project, but mostly it is 25-49$.
If you are going to outsource companies from Belarus, I recommend using your network connections and ask people which company is better

I worked with Sigma at my last company and they were great and very affordable - the team was out of Ukraine. A senior back end dev there can run around $45/hour, maybe a little more if you need PM support.
In a current consulting project I'm working alongside some Laravel devs from Toptal who are very good - one from Chile and the other from Bulgaria. I think you can find a lot of rates in the 60-80/hour range but Toptal is a very well-respected network - they usually negotiate lower rates for small companies.

$60/hour x 40 hours/week x 46 weeks/year = $110K/year
An annualized $83K or $110K salary programmer better be very good:-)
I have gotten recommendation for 2 senior programmer candidates (Eastern EU) with hourly rate of $25 USD.
I have posted the project on upwork. It seems there are freelancers in US with competitive pricing, with fixed project pricing. It is definitely an option.
I have not heard positive things about upwork for development / longer projects (vs. less than a day of help with an issue). YMMV!
I have posted my project on upwork with a fixed price. There are many offers from US. Many of the the US based are PM in US but programming in India or Pakistan. But there are some EU expat and some US coders. Even one is a startup guy who is doing projects for side income. 2 or 3 look very competent with past projects and relevant LinkedIn profile.
But I think the most important thing is that I have the exact spec and functionalities of the site and I can code myself. So if something is not working in the 1st week, stop the project and find someone else:-)
