Quest Mode Life Launching

Hey Indie Hackers 👋

I'm Stevanus, a solo developer from Indonesia. I just launched QuestMode — 10 free RPG-themed productivity tools that turn your life goals into actual quests.

And yes, I know what you're thinking. "Another productivity app?"

Hear me out.

The Problem I Was Actually Trying to Solve

I've tried everything. Notion. Habitica. Todoist. Paper planners. Spreadsheets. Bullet journals.

I'd start strong, then quit after two weeks. Every. Single. Time.

The problem wasn't discipline — it was that none of these tools felt engaging. They felt like homework. And nobody wants to do homework after a long day.

I've been playing RPGs since I was a kid. The reason I'd grind for hours in those games wasn't because I had to — it was because progress felt visible, rewarding, and addictive.

So I asked myself: what if your real life had XP bars? What if finishing your morning routine gave you a "Daily Buff"? What if your goals were quests with clear objectives and rewards?

That's QuestMode.

What I Built

10 free tools, all interconnected:

  • 🎯 Mission Statement Generator — your character's main quest

  • 📊 Life Stats Dashboard — track Health, Wealth, Relationships, Skills, Purpose, Fun

  • 📅 Weekly Quest Planner — turn tasks into daily missions with XP

  • 🎮 Dopamine Menu Builder — healthy rewards inventory with randomizer

  • 📈 Habit XP Calculator — visualize compound growth over 1 year

  • 💡 SMART Goals Generator — turn vague dreams into actionable quests

  • ☀️ Morning Routine Builder — drag-and-drop with time estimator

  • 🌳 Skill Tree Visualizer — RPG-style career and hobby progression maps

  • 🏆 Achievement Tracker — badges and certificates for real-life wins

  • 🗺️ Vision Board Builder — digital + printable with drag-and-drop

Everything exports as PDF. No vendor lock-in.

The Part I Care About Most: Privacy

All data lives in localStorage. I literally cannot see your data. Nothing is sent to my servers because there are no servers storing your content.

I built this partly as a reaction to apps that:

  • Build your entire system inside their platform

  • Raise prices after you're hooked

  • Shut down and take your data with them

QuestMode exports everything. Your data is yours. Always.

The Business Model (Honest Version)

It's free. No paywall on the tools.

Revenue comes from:

  • Optional Notion templates for power users

  • Ebooks on gamification and productivity systems

  • Donations from people who find it genuinely useful

I'm not trying to build a unicorn. I'm trying to build something useful that sustains itself.

Where I'm At Right Now

Fresh launch. Real talk — I have no idea if this will get traction.

The tools work. The system is solid. But I'm one person figuring out SEO, marketing, and growth while also building features.

What I'd love from this community:

  1. Try one tool — even just the Mission Statement Generator (takes 5 minutes). Tell me if it's actually useful or if I'm just another guy who built a thing nobody asked for.

  2. Honest feedback — what's confusing? What's missing? What would make you actually use this daily?

  3. Questions about the build — happy to talk tech stack (Astro, TypeScript, Tailwind, localStorage-first architecture), the privacy-first approach, or the freemium model.
