Something that not a lot of people are talking about is that social events (both personal and professional) are likely going to be on hold for the foreseeable future. This makes it really hard to meet people IRL.
And not that I necessarily enjoyed going to networking events, but I know a lot of people who depend on trade shows and conferences to meet prospective clients and partners.
I was wondering if anyone else on IH has been thinking about how they'll continue to grow their personal or professional network in a meaningful way over the next few months?
I've got a few tips that have been working pretty well for me that I'm going to share in a longer post on Growth. Just wanted to ask the question to see if you have any specific questions or concerns I could help you with.
Cheers,
Stew
@stew_hillhouse, we have actually been working on a solution for just this problem. Virtual/hybrid events will likely be with us for sometime to come. Our tech was originally designed for in-person presentations but we are about to release an events module with networking and video. In-person events are a great way to expand your network. We look to do the same in the virtual space without too many folks on a video chat, that is not productive.

Great pivot @1simplesoul - while I think large gatherings are a great way to meet people, I've also seen great results with selectively seeking our certain people and then finding ways to connect with them.
Agree with you though. Once you've got more than 6 people on a video chat, it's useless for conversations.
Well @stew_hillhouse, LinkedIn is as it has always been...I’ve continued to keep irons in the fire through emails and phone calls. Not a lot of video chats. I’m not sure how the virtual meetups are going for large groups of individuals as I tend to prefer one-on-one conversations.
Large meetups are tricky virtually in my opinion. We think that just because we can , we should throw 20+ people in a Zoom room and think that magical things are going to happen. When in reality, conversations with more than 6 people are hardly effective.
Just to clarify, are the people you're keeping in touch with old acquaintances, or new people over the last few months?
Agreed. They are a combination of older and newer acquaintances.
