Quick help, please

Hey IH fam, I am building a communication tool, and I was wondering if anyone could help me find a solution for this - I have a large number of media files to store, both videos and images,(user-generated) - so I am wondering what are tools/API/methods you guys are using when it comes to compressing video files without losing quality? can someone help?
