Hi π
I'm Yann, a saas founder and Indie-hacker just like you.
I've been working on my saas Featurehunter for over 2 years now on the side of school. Yes I'm still very young but also very eager to learn.
During this time I was just developing the software in silence, which means the product came a long way, but when it came time to actually get users to decide what feature to build next i was stumped, because I had absolutley none.
Of course it was because no one even knew what Featurehunter was, or even that it existed. You can build the greatest product in the world and still if no one knows about it you're not gonna have much success.
So I set out on my journey to become a marketer.
I had no idea what i was doing and to be honest i still don't π
I stayed rather consistent though, making new webpages, tweeting, reaching out to people...
Progress was slow, but over the months hints stared showing.
At first a like on my tweet. Then 5 more views on my website. 5 clicks on google.
And then just last week I had two random people I don't know sign up!
I must say it feels good finally seeing some progress, i guess its like a exponential curve, its very flat for a long time, then it slowly, slowly starts to lift, before skyrocketing. Let's just hope this is only the beginning and who knows, Featurehunter might be the biggest Canny alternative soon.
The lesson here:
Sometimes progress is made in the dark, it piles up, bit by bit, subtly showing and if that's enough to keep you going, great things can happen.
I'll keep you posted.
