Quit my freelance job. Today is day one as full time indie maker 🚀

Three years ago I started a monthly zoom call for indie hackers.

It grew and grew. We added a slack, 1-1 introductions, challenges, sponsorships, and club dues.

Today I quit my job to focus on building Indie Worldwide full time.

    Lovely man good luck.
pd: your landing page bottom is kinda fked up in terms of spacing, is that voluntary? :P

      Do you think so?

      How should I improve it?

      1. 2

Hey, I would reduce space between sections and probably put a max-width on the whole body. I see that the bigger the screen the bigger the text (but no big deal).

Also try combining your corporative colors (purple and yellow/orange) more in your page, right now you only use the 2 variations of purple in your content (titles / buttons) and it feels like my brain puts attention to everything at the same time.

Check Upwork website, that is the perfect example of a max width and color combination design ;)

Other than that the website is pretty slick man, gj <3

Oo thank you, for the feedback and also providing a good example to compare against. Makes it more clear how I can improve. I used Carrd to build the site, not sure how much control I have over max width and content size but will try to adjust both that and the color palette. Good looking out :)

      Thanks Eli!

How's your venture going so far?

  16. 2

    Congrats on taking the plunge!

I got laid off during the Covid lockdown in March 2020, which spurred me on to work full-time on my startup.

When the lockdown was lifted, and my co-workers and I were started getting called back into work, my app was already profitable and supporting me full-time.

    1. 1

Hell yeah Jay, that's awesome. You're living the fantasy of every worker who's ever been laid off of outgrowing the role and declining to come back.

  17. 2

Congratulations. I already remember the day I quit my last day job. It was the best day of my life.

      Thanks!

How long ago was that? How's it been going since then?

Indie Hackers is loading really slow today so it's taking forever to load your profile.

      1. 1

About 2009. Ups and downs, but no regrets since.

        1. 1

That's a long time! Have you been indie hacking the entire time?

          1. 2

Most of the time I worked for my websites/apps. Launched many, but only few were successful. I have done many other things during this time, did some freelancing work too, but only to learn or help someone I knew, small investments, a lot of voluntary work, etc.

Congrats Anthony I was surprised when you told me that you were not doing Indie Worldwide full-time. You were able to achieve so much with a portion of your time, I am excited to see what will come now!

Oh boy I'm just getting started
