Quora answers collapsed (Help Needed)
Hi guys,
I have been writing answers on quora for the past couple of months. I choose questions related to freelancing as that's closely related to my startup. Here is my profile: https://www.quora.com/profile/Karthik-Sridharan-12.
I suddenly noticed that some of my answers are not showing up to other people (33 when I login through my account and see it vs. 21 when I check it in incognito) . Now, I know about answers getting collapsed. However, I am unsure why my answers have been collapsed.
Initially, I assumed that maybe newer answers take time to go through an automated review and to then be visible. But I can see certain older answers of mine not showing up but later answers being visible. A little confused here on:
- What the process of review is?
- Why my answers might be flouting some rules?

I have done a lot of writing on Quora in the past, and from my point of view, you are linking to your own website way to fast before providing any value. The value only comes after your link.
Quora doesn't like that since it wants you to buy ads if you want to promote your product that high up in the answer. So, instead of starting out with a link, add it at the end. I've written 60+ answers and none of them was ever collapsed because I added a link after providing value instead of right at the start.

Thanks @FrankHeijdenrijk. This is super helpful and I think that might be the reason for that particular answer to be collapsed. However, in this one: https://qr.ae/TDJojf - I included the link in between the answer after quite some text. Do you still think that's the reason for this answer too OR is there something else that I need to be aware of as well?
Not sure, could just be that they flagged your account because there is a low number of views on your answers.
Also, your ratio of upvotes:views is really high, higher than the average you see in those threads, and I see a lot of names reappearing in the upvote lists. They're all accounts with 0 followers, most of them have no profile picture or bio.
Not sure if you're buying upvotes or anything, but by the looks of it the upvotes aren't really helping you with getting your answers to appear.
I doubt they have flagged my account as I have only recently started writing answers and am also a top viewed write for a couple of categories already.
Yes - I was requesting some of my friends to upvote my answers and they created new accounts. But this is a good point - I will try to get guys who have been active on Quora for a while to upvote my answers.
Just checked this morning that two of my answers have moved out of the collapsed section (I didn't make any change). One of them is the second link I sent to you.
Quora is doubling down on flagging accounts since they have such a big problem with SPAM and useless answers. Even when you're a top writer, you can still get flagged for trying to cheat by asking for upvotes.
Honestly, just don't try to do anything that seems blackhat. Quora has algorithms in place that will detect that. Play the long game. It took me a while to get good traction on Quora but once you get traction it will be much easier to ride the momentum wave.

One of my top performing answer was deleted by Quora 3 times and yet I was able to reinstate it.
It got sent to Quora Digest to 20 Million People. Just go to --> https://help.quora.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Submit your request. Ask them politely to reinstate your answer and you will get reply within 4 hours.
Usually the Quora Bot Collapses the answer.
My answer had a landing page link at the end. Its still there.

Hey @tejas3732, this is very helpful. I have done this now. However, I have never received a reply from Quora support. It has forever been a one-sided conversation :/

Yup, tried that link today after you shared it. It is the same link I had used in the past. Haven't got a reply yet. Will wait for it.

That would be painful. I see some really inferior answers doing well - highly promotional, same answer pasted word-for-word for a number of questions, etc. So, wouldn't be surprised. Hoping it is not though.
