[Ranking] 40,500 Search A Month

TLDR - How Webflow blog post is attempting to rank for a keyword with 40,500 searches a month.

Hello Indie Fam, Spencer here with Median Screen Share and I am tired of reading about other people's success building content-based SEO pages.

CAN'T WE ALL MAKE MILLIONS OVERNIGHT?

QUICK BACK STORY
The other day (between 1 day and 5 years ago) I read my way down a dark hole when I stumbled across @sabba 's article on his blog titled "How I print money (with no expenses)".

Ok that might not be the Title but the link is correct. haha

Anyways, @sabba basically got punched in the face with rejection while arguably having a somewhat shitty product.

Instead of giving up, he quickly learned that the company needed to make money in order to make the product better.

With a ZERO dollar budget, @Sabba and his co-founder turned VEED.IO into a 1,000,000 company in 12 months. Click the blog link above for the full story.

Today VEED does over 5 Million a year and is probably evaluated at over 20 Million!

MY STORY
After reading @Sabba 's story, you might be shocked to learn...

I want to print money too 🤑

You see, in December 2020 I purchased Median Cobrowse off of Andrew Gazdecki's MicroAquire.com.

Median was founded in 2017, is profitable, and has some whale 🐳 customers.

Here is a video demo if you are interested in what Median does.
Median

So naturally, I thought the business would organically grow and all I had to do was pour gas on the 🔥.

After spending money on paid ads, cold emailing thousands of people, doing podcasts, and more.

I have felt defeated by the lack of growth we have seen.

THE RESULT
I spent HOURS in UberSuggest, SimilarWeb, Google Analytics, Google Adwords, and more trying to build a list of Keywords.

Let it be known that I do NOT know what I am doing... but

After a few hours of research, I noticed there is a whole world of people who are struggling with Zoom.

For example,
40,500 per month search for Join Zoom Meeting with an SEO difficulty score of 26 out of 100.

Now, do I think ranking for Join Zoom Meeting will have @Sabba level results???
NO, no I do not.

Do I think I can rank on the 1st page of Google and snag a good number of that traffic?
YES, yes I do.

Did I write this article thinking it was funny, shareable, and designed to appeal to my audience?
Join Zoom Meeting Links Are Not The Answer!
YES, yes I did. Haha

To be clear, I do NOT see Zoom as a competitor of Median but I think there is a small audience who will find it helpful and potential sign up.

IN CONCLUSION
I plan on knocking out a TON more articles to help Median rank on the Google map.

With that being said, I would LOVE to hear your thought on how the article will perform? If the article is good? Is Median any good? or any other feedback you might have.

PS: @Sabba, if you are reading this, YOU are a legend and I would love to buy you a beer sometime. 🍻

PSS: If you have content that you think will work better I would love to hear it.

This might work but just beware of a few things:
    -searcher intent
    -Google's bias towards Zoom

    Searcher intent
This one is probably the biggest factor, it is hard to convince someone who is using Zoom to switch already.

You could target and write content for those people who are having problems with Zoom already relating to price, usability and features. E.g. "Why does Zoom Lag", "Whyis Zoom slow". These people are having problems and are more susceptible to switching. When writing content for those keywords, plug in why Median is better.

Another way of doing this is comparative keywords e.g. zoom Vs Microsoft teams

Another way of targeting people in the buyer process.

Above all, focus on content quality and the user intent.

    Google's Bias
Search for any term with a site name and there is a good chance the first 3 spots will be results from that site. Google thinks that is relevant and probably the most trustworthy source of information relating to your query.

    Good luck!

Thanks @momentous, this was my first attempt at ranking for a big keyword.

Frankly, I do NOT think my article is very good or helpful. I just think it is slightly funny and relevant.

As far as winning content goes, I agree with you 100%. I have learned in the past that ranking does NOT happen overnight.

Nice work! Little idea for you, maybe try keywords around intercom, crips, drift.... As the people searching for this stuff could be your user?

Looking forward to that beer :)

@sabba come to Dallas brother, I have your beer waiting. 🍻

Kind of embarrassing but I noticed that you clicked the link and it directed you to my sandbox site versus HelloMedian.com 🤦🏻‍♂️

      Rookie Mistake.

Anyways, @sabba that is a good tip. I tried this strategy with a few links at the bottom of our site.

I am still struggling to find any success with SEO. If feels like the keywords I am going after simply do not have enough search volume to make a difference, or our landing pages suck... who knows. haha

      Thanks for the response! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
