I wanted to take a break from serious SaaS prospects, talking to users, and meeting their BORING (jk) requirements and figured I'd come up with something totally off the cuff and irrational.
The hard part would be to make a user account something that is worth updating or renewing. Sort of how Duolingo makes you not miss a day. I suppose it would be borderline gamification, but I try to stay away from that. Perhaps apply a points system where other users use their points to give your goal (and account) intrinsic value. Create a goal economy! :)
Every "niche" would be user created -- with a hint of crowdsourced moderation/auto-maintenance. It would suffer from the chicken and the egg issue in regards to content and users. In regards to monetization, maybe a Discord-esque Nitro version of a niche you created for $5/mo.
Perhaps the idea sucks, but I know you all have your favorite places/things for your own strange reasons! :)
Anybody else have any silly, un-tested, ideas that should definitely not work but sound fun in your head?
not totally sold on Everyday Update myself but I can think of people who would be sooo down for that kind of quick accountability check.
Niche Finder is fun though. Yahoo Answers was amazing for what it was. niches are perfect for crowdsourcing because it implies a level of familiarity, care, and uniqueness. people would pour their heart into their niches I bet 😭 Feels like there's potential for virality there + inter-community traction, but I'm not so sure the monetization would pan out haha
Out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
No. 1 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ As it’s got potential IMO (somewhere/somehow)
No. 2 ⭐️ As it looks like a very hard road
Hey 3 stars is something! I thought it would be the reverse ratings actually!
The random idea I had yesterday was for an "Indie Services Exchange".
People can offer their project with a cap on the monthly cost and qty of users / period, then others can do the same and "swap" services between them. IE A > B > C, as long as everyone puts something in and offers something back.
Good way to offer entry plan to others to benefit from, get some feed back but also not give away the house in the process. Perhaps with a few month or annual limit on before needing to re-validate.
