I'm a big believer in incremental improvements over a long period of time. Most people think their landing page is good enough and just leave it alone for months at a time. I try to make at least a few small improvements every week.
I've pulled together 3 large versions for comparison:
V1 (very first launch): Link
Way too much text in the hero. The entire design is too simple, not enough content, etc.
V5: Link
Slightly cleaner hero. More color and content, not horrible overall but still lacking.
V8: https://www.incognitoforslack.com/
Much cleaner hero, larger and updated product image. Updated logo. Social proof. Fleshed out pricing tiers.
What do you think? What's the next item I need to improve?
Thanks!
I think you have a really effective headline... it's just not the one you have now. I would consider using the subheading you have farther down the page...
Headline:
"Encourage Open and Honest Feedback From Your Team With Incognito For Slack"
Subhead:
"Find out what your employees REALLY think with anonymous polls and messages that give even the shyest team member a voice."
Beyond that, the section "headlines" aren't really headlines but labels. You want to give people a reason to keep reading down the page, so they need to be fore benefit focused.
Last thing...
I'd move the testimonial up the page - perhaps under the hero section
Hope that helps!
Curtis
Thanks, Curtis! Really good suggestions, I'll play around with another version of the hero headline!
And you're right about the section headers, but I'm not sure which direction to go. Are you saying more like "How to get value out of Incognito for Slack" instead of "Use cases" Seems like too long of header title
Yes, thats the direction...
"The Benefits of Anonymity"
"Great ways to use IFS"
But then how do I have the menu at the top to link to the sections? I should keep the section titles just for the top menu?
Also, if I was to change my hero language it would remove the "Sent to a private channel or the whole team" which isn't really strong or catchy language but I think it makes it clear that this isn't free-form anonymous messages anywhere but structured anonymous feedback for the leadership team.
What do you think?
To link to the different sections from the menu, just keep the div tag the same and change the actual h2 or h3 text you're using for the section headers.
My hero copy examples were just that - examples. If it is critical they know these aren't free form, you can work it into the hero copy but the main headline should address how your product solves your customers big problem.
....
On another topic, I need help validating a product idea. I hope you can help me. I'm looking to interview people who use landing pages for their business. Would you be available for a short 15-20 min interview?
Sure, no problem! email me and we can set up a time: matt at incognitoforslack . com
Hi Matt,
I have been following your continuous improvements. I also share the same mindset of continuous 1% improvements over the time instead of a big overhaul every 6 months.
You have come a long way. I think that the landing page is hitting the right chord from the design perspective. There are some improvements that can be made in the copy.
For a start, the sub-headline can be made more clear by making it a one full sentence.
"Give your team the power to send anonymous messages or create polls in a tool used daily"
Hope this helps!
Thanks! The reason I currently have "Sent to a private channel or the whole team" is that I don't want people to mistakenly think that users can send anonymous messages to any channel or to any users through DMs. It's more of a collective feedback tool.
I think leadership teams would be nervous to give full anonymous message access. What do you think?
That is a valid point. I think you can keep the private channel phrase and restructure the sub-headline such that it is more clear. The sub-headline is clear on where the messages can be shared but it needs clarity on who can share the messages.
You can also address one thing in headline and one in sub-headline.
@strangebrew also gave good suggestions about the headline and the section headlines.
