Hi everyone,
Generally -
please feel free to demolish our landing page / product pitch.
Also feel free to tell me if you think something works well :)
Specifically
-Is our value proposition clear?
-What do you think of the images / overall aesthetic
-Does the name La Hackería make sense to you?
Thanks y'all!
link?
haha wooops! https://www.lahackeria.com.
Silly question - since you just updated it - with the Corona and all - do you want to mention it in the message? (i.e. Corona is not forever.... We will overcome... There is world after Corona...)
Yeah! I could have a pop-up on the landing page -
We have our fingers crossed that we can offer our course in September or next Jan, but let's see how all of this goes!
Thanks for your feedback :)
It's an interesting initiative @fedeguss
I realized the landing page is not short, on mobile is even longer. Any chance you would combine certain information into one section in order to help users navigate and make a decision quicker?
I'm actually struggling to the same thing on my landing page, would love to hear your advice too :)
Mm - the length is a good point. Maybe I can redirect folks onto other pages and shorten the main ones - That's a good idea. I'll work on that.
I just took a look at your landing page.
I haven't clicked on "download free template" -
And I didn't because I don't know if I actually will want to use them.
Maybe the first thing I see when I land on your page is and example of what it looks like to use your service?
I'm unsure from just the site - Are they powerpoint / google slides templates? Or will I make it on your platform and then download it? What I have to do is not immediately clear, unless I click the button to download a free template. Which is fair, but I want more info before I click that button.
Hope that helps and thanks for your feedback!
I like the design. However, the site not being responsive may end up being a big problem.
I made a comment on another thread earlier today about typography, and I think it applies here as well: you need to establish consistency between your headers, subheaders, and body text. Case in point: your hero section has a header, two lines of body text (one in bold and one regular weight), and an accessibility-unfriendly (or close to) button. As they are all in the same font family, there's a bit of cognitive dissonance due to the lack of contrast, which interestingly is solved lower down the page when Raleway is used for your body text.
In summary: headers, subheaders, and body text should all be strongly differentiated from each other.
Very cool concept though! I signed up for updates, as I would love to be kept in the loop!
Veeeery valuable feedback!! Thanks a lot for the time and effort you put into it - I'll take another stab at it later today. We'll definitely keep you in the loop! Thanks again!
Neat idea, I think your can make the landing page more "aspirational"? Browsing through it didn't create any sense of I need to join this.
Emphasize the actual benefits of enrolling, add testimonials/reviews, success stories of other participants.
On another note, I would change the website theme. Since you're talking about coding, a theme similar to this https://www.techstars.com/startups is instantly more relatable to potential candidates and it also increases your credibility. (It doesn't have to be dark tho)
The whole idea is great, so good luck!
Mmm - yeah that's a very good point about it being aspirational.
A large part of this project is in response to bootcamps that really oversell themselves. I'm trying to be straight about the value we offer, and not say things like "you'll make $100k after you graduate for sure."
But you're right - I do need t think about how to do that and also make you feel like you NEED TO JOIN THIS!
Thanks for the techcrunch reference!
However, I'm trying to make the design appeal to techy types, but who are also inclined towards travel and a bit of an alternative lifestyle - do any webpages come to mind? I've looked a lot at sites like nomadlist, remotive...
Thanks again!
I think it looks great Fede. You can leave everything as it is in my opinion. But here is some personal feedback (subjective I guess) - https://prnt.sc/rjquqp
Keep up posted ;)
Thanks for the careful feedback! I just changed the site in response to your comments!
Hey, just a few thoughts on your content...
"A stale concept needed a brand new start" - but how is yours different/better/not stale - is it just because it's cheaper?
The statement about being world class but half the price of the US doesn't quite match up/perhaps seems a bit too good to be true. I think it would help to know who the world class teachers are and their background, otherwise it sounds a bit salesy without any validation. If they're world class, then why half the price?
I like that you have an About section, makes it feel more personable. "...teach you the difficult topics other bootcamps won't" - What courses are you offering that other bootcamps won't teach? The courses look quite standard?
Just a few thoughts and hope that's helpful rather than sounding negative! :)
This is very helpful, Jamie. Thank you!
You've put your finger right on the mark - Right now we are putting basically all our effort into finding the right faculty - it's basically our core value proposition. I'll let you know when we have them onboard :p
I've modified the pitch to take into account a lot of what you said - I hate being salesy, but I also want people to be impressed by the value proposition. It's a hard balance to strike, but I think I can do it as soon as I can truthfully offer more details about our faculty to prospective students.
Our overall pitch is that bootcamps are trying to be profitable, rapidly scalable, offer high quality ed, AND cover all the material to turn you into an industry pro in 15 weeks, which we think is just not possible.
So we've decided to focus on quality of education and quality of life - and it turns out that with 15-20 students per class it doesn't actually have to be very expensive to be profitable!
But if I need to explain this, then it isn't clear enough on the site, so that's still very helpful. :) Thanks again!
Your hero headline doesn't really tell me what you solve.
IMO the subheader in the hero should be a quick sentence of how you solve the problem.
Great feedback! I wanted it to be direct, but maybe it's over the top. Thanks!
