Re-launching on Product Hunt
I keep hearing about Product Hunt, and how extremely valuable it can be.
How much exposure, hype, press attention, visitors, and conversions you can get by getting to the front page.
From what I understand, it's really important to plan your launch.
Get in touch with hunters, interact with the community on Product Hunt, and creating interest - all before launching.
My problem is, that I already created my product, Sigmetic, on Product Hunt.
I really didn't know much about it at the time, and I didn't make a big deal out of it. So it just drowned.
My questions are:
- Is Product Hunt as crazy an opportunity, as you are let to believe in various forums? Does anyone here have first-hand experience with Product Hunt?
- Is there any way to re-launch or get re-listed? Or did I simply miss my opportunity?
Just had my app posted to PH - though someone posted it without me knowing. My app ended up the #5 app for the day and generated ~80 new users.
It's a holiday where I live so I couldn't even get most of my network to upvote (all but 2 upvotes were by strangers).
From this experience and previous one, I don't believe you need a big campaign to succeed.

I don't know much about product hunt re-listings, but I think I can offer something.
I like the video from startup school that changed my perspective about launching https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3xU050kMbHM. Perhaps the best summary is in the title of the video, "How to launch (again and again)".
You'll want to keep launching again and again. What that means is while a big launch would be fantastic start, it is definitely just that, a start. You can launch again by finding and joining forums that have users you think would use your product. Post comments on reddit, make a video on YouTube demoing your app and sharing it, etc.
What you definitely don't want to do is think a big launch is all you need to get traction. I was lucky 5 years ago and got probably the best launch I could ever hope for. Not big by any means but I was on hackernews front page briefly and had some other news coverage. You can read more on my blog if interested https://plainice.com/hackernews-front-page-5-years-after.
After that launch though I did nothing and my app fizzled away. A big launch isn't necessary a guarantee of success.

Not sure how much impact it'll have to have a 'good launch' on PH — I guess it probably depends on the product itself as well. But we just hit #1 on PH for the day! So far it's just bragging rights as it remains to be seen whether it'll actually help drive visits / adoptions / usage / feedback or not.

Add couple of new features and launch as Version 2.0. I have seen many do that.
I think you can reach out to Product Hunt directly to have your listing taken down and relaunch. I remember a friend who did that, but this was some time ago.

I read that you can contact them and have it taken down, but that you typically need a good reason. And that "I want to relaunch" is certainly not one 😅
But I guess if you ask to have it taken down and then wait a fair bit.
I got lucky and my listing, https://www.producthunt.com/posts/norde-source-1-0, got relaunched for some reason.
I think there was a bug with it since I contacted support when I was trying to add it as an alternative to another product but couldn't find it in the list. Then much to my surprise a few days later it was as if it was relaunched and it went straight to the front page. Ended up in #4 for that day.
My initial launch was pretty much a failure, ended with 20 upvotes, versus the 400 I got now.
