Reached $3.600 USD on day 5 of our Kickstarter
We still don't know how to reach the broader community, the vast majority donations so far come from people that were familiar with our work already.

I think setting 50K goal for a web project is too much. I dont mean you dont need it. basically many project lower the project even if they need more cause the above than 100% looks good and shows people that your project is interesting.
Normally people who join in kickstarter do so because the thing that they get is novice and will cost alot more later. So cause based fund raiser, Gofundme work better i think.
That's exactly why did it on kickstarter. We need to prove that we can make a product that people are interested in out of this "data and open source" stuff. I know, difficult and we might fail, but going for charity instead of product was out of the question from the beggining
