How it's happening?
The initial traction was thanks to a couple of Pieter Level's RTs of the below tweet that he did after sending me a DM and then after his suggestions, I rebranded it to http://jobboardsearch.com
Later, a Sunday morning before going to the beach and inspired by
@gvrizzo I posted about JobBoardSearch π on the subreddit r/InternetIsBeautiful/ and it went viral
Made a comment about JobBoardSearch π on an Indie Hackers post and a moderator asked me to make a post about it (I've never written a post before).
It got featured on the home page and created a lot of awareness π₯
Pieter in a DM suggested including paid options the last mid-April, I also included 3 monthly sponsored slots (Gold π₯ Silver π₯ Bronzeπ₯) and tweeted about it, and right away Phil from 4dayweek job board sponsored me and so many more:
Having a known job board as Dynamite Jobs (plus other 38) supporting with a job board listing upgrade (Highlight β¨ Custom Colorπ΄ Sticky π) is really amazing!
Also last month I received an offer of $20K π° for JobBoardSearch π which I declined, and even though I am not ready to sell it felt nice and I think is a good sign π
On top Gold π₯ & Bronze π₯ slots got sponsored for 3 months in a row!
How did I come up with the idea?
Inspired by Pieter Levels' not-perfect way of doing things, ship asap and improve later, and #buildinpublic
@dvassallo small bets, lurking to get ideas.
Made JobBoardSearch π MVP in 5 hours after reading Pieter's tweet about Stackoverflow Jobs shutting down
Of course, is not all of a bed of roses, there are a lot of days that you feel that you are not capable of doing it π
It's important to share your win and loses with likeminded people, to get encouraged when you are down, and to encourage others when you feel up π like @arvidkahl does
I'm grateful for all that happened in the last 6 months so I would like to giveaway π 2 books.
1οΈβ£ "Zero to Sold: How to Start, Run, and Sell a Bootstrapped Business" by Arvid Kahl
2οΈβ£ "You Belong in Tech: How to Go from Zero Programming Knowledge to Hired" by Anna J McDougall
How to get any of the books?
Thanks for reading π and hope you are enjoying my journey!
PS: Any questions or feedback, shoot, always happy to help π
