My goal is to build more backlinks and get some PR at the same time for Story Creator.
I am wondering if anyone has some advice and or some resources I can absorb. So that I can effectively reach out to bloggers and get an article written about the app I built.
I'd like to know some good methods of finding the right people to contact in my space. The most intuitive answer is to Google, then to find their contact information. I am curious to know if there are any quicker more effective ways.
Are there some things to keep in mind like traffic count? Obviously higher traffic blogs will be harder to reach out to. Like TechCrunch for example, in order to get featured on there, I don't believe there is a straight forward answer. I would believe that it takes some crafty tactics and a bit of luck. I would love some insight if you have it though.
Any thoughts around that would be appreciated.
Also, what have you done to build backlinks? I would love to start adding some actionable items to get backlinks to the product.
Cheers
If you're trying to assess the value of a link you can use metrics like Domain Authority (https://moz.com/link-explorer) but take it with a grain of salt.
If you're going to try to do outreach be prepared to put in a lot of work. Cold outreach to bulk email lists will not work. You'll need to either HIGHLY personalize your outreach or slowly build relationships with people (over Twitter and stuff). Relationship building can't really be faked or gamed.
For what it's worth, the biggest backlink campaign I've ever done was a free stock photo search engine (https://www.sitebuilderreport.com/stock-up). I launched it when free stock photos were still relatively rare. I didn't do any outreach but it got on Forbes, The Next Web and Huffington post.
Right, first few customers would be painful to get. Maybe start building relationships with bloggers in their blogs or on Twitter.
I would suggest to build the relationship with bloggers first. Simply try commenting in their blogs and in their twitter, try to be personalized, not using the template wording.
Once you get your seed bloggers, then reach out to other bloggers. Good luck Michael!
