    Thanks for sharing this. I am a Backend dev that is sometimes tasked with doing FE work... this really helped me answer a question I didn't realize I had.

        Specifically, the closure problem helps. I actually just converted a functional component back to a class component because of a "bug" caused by us not using useRef. Guess I can switch it back now. Lol
