For SaaS to shape up the SEO content strategy, there's nothing better to start with than neat-picking from what your competitors are up to.
Here's a quick way to look at your competitions’ SEO content map and put weights on it-
Label content types based on URL slugs.
Counted the total # of pages under each type.
Fetched the avg monthly SEO traffic for each of the types.
Step 3 X 2 resulted in the total SEO traffic for each of the slug types.
Turn 'em into 3 pie charts i.e. Slug vs No of Pages, Slug vs Avg Traffic, and Slug vs Total Traffic.
I did this one of SaaS client's 50+ top direct competitors and this came handy in a lot of ways.
Now we can focusing on maximizing the last mover advantage. Learn what types of contents works best in SEO, the mix of ToFu-MoFu-BoFu contents, High-traffic and no-traffic content kinds, and whom to aspire from for which kind of content in SEO.
