Recommendations on a UI/UX course?
Hello,
I'm a software developer with multiple years of experience making iOS apps.
I'm looking to sharpen my design skills. I know my way around Sketch to do basic designs, but would like to become a better overall designer.
I like the course/screencast format instead of just learning haphazardly on my own or via channels like Youtube.
Do you have any recommendation for a UI/UX course that can take my skills to the next level?

I think these resources have good tips, once you've reached a certain level, but what I need is a more immersive course/set of courses to fully be designing day in day out for a little while (or over a prolonged period)
The first course you linked looks good because it covers wireframes, grids, and prototyping. I recommend checking out Apple’s design guidelines too, it’s a great resource for app design rules/conventions. https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/
@Ronyfadel check these guys out growth.design they have amazing UX case studies. And they are planning on doing something like a UX course.

I haven't been through the course myself, but subscribed to the newsletter which often provide some interesting insights and tips.
They also offer a course focused on UX instead of UI if that's what you're going :)

This isn’t a course per say but one of the best things I did in learning product design was trying to replicate existing products that I liked. You really start to understand a design system if you build it from the ground up. You’ll also inevitably encounter issues of skill on the software and have to solve that which is great for learning.

Any pointers on how to start? Start copying app designs from Dribbble using Sketch?
You could do that but I suggest picking one of your favorite apps that’s on the App Store. Too much stuff on dribble would never make it to production. Facebook, Spotify, Netflix, Disney +, Airbnb are all great places to start. They have very cohesive design execution with some of the best design systems.

These all seem like courses to learn Sketch, rather than courses to learn how to be a better designer. Sketch is a great tool but it’s a small part of the entire design process. I think those courses are great if you just want to learn the ins and outs of Sketch but I’m not sure they’ll help you be a better designer overall.

Any tips on a course that both teaches design and is more of a learn by doing type?
There's an Interaction Design Certification on Coursera that I completed a couple years ago. If my memory serves me correctly it is 6 classes total. There are a few classes that are less relevant depending on what area of UI/UX is more interesting to you. For example, if statistics isn't your thing you could skip the class that delves into R. Or you could just take the first class to receive a pretty good introduction

What do you mean by “hands on”? Are you looking for a course that has practice examples?

I don’t know of a specific course but Skillshare courses focus on exercises and hands on practices. Might want to give those a shot.
