These robots are for factories and other low-skill labor. The pandemic has taught businesses that robots are more dependable than people.
You don't need to pay a robot a salary, just maintain it.
You don't need to worry about the robot getting to work, it's always ready.
You don't need even need to give the robot a bathroom break.
It's a matter of time - probably 6 decades - until robots completely replace most service level positions.
What happens then? Revolution? Universal Basic Income? Perhaps even Nothing. I'm not sure. But covid has taught large enterprises a lesson: people aren't dependable.
