Redesigning a Product Design Newsletter

After 4.5 years in the running, I'm finally redesigning my newsletter about product design that goes out every two weeks to 4000+ designers, developers, product managers & makers.

So far, I'm thinking of adding this

  • Editor's column to make it personable
  • Featured jobs from my job board (launching soon)
  • Featured tweet – because we love Twitter
  • Quote about design
  • Prompt to share the newsletter for organic growth

As fellow makers & publishers, I would love to get your feedback and suggestions to make this redesign a better version for the readers.

You can take a look at the current design in the archive.

Hey Darshan, first, how did you manage to get 4k subscribers? Just wondering as I'm trying to start a newsletter as well.

Some thoughts on improving the design:

    • Don't limit the width so drastically (seems a bit narrow in my browser tbh)
    • i love the idea of the editor-column. more personal is always better.
    • i don't like the font/text-size down at the "INTERESTING STUFF THIS MONTH" (somehow looks like ads)
    • tbh i really like the header as it is currently and how the black section exactly lines up with the first image 🤓
    • i also like the logo!

Good luck on improving it further, Darshan 🚀

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback @dennis_zoma.

Not sure if you're seeing a different version. It's using a standard width for the email design.

Btw, I recently crossed 100 issues milestone and did a little thread about the learnings on Twitter. Take a look here if you're interested in learning about our growth.
