Remote book club app? #idea-validation
I heard in a podcast a few months back a request for someone to build a remote book club app. I wish I could remember who said it and on which podcast. If you know please comment and I'll credit them. It really stuck with me and I've been feverishly scribbling notes about it ever since.
Since I'm not in any book clubs, I'd love to ask the IH community if there is a need to be filled here?
I'm a designer and I would love to collaborate if this tickled anyone's interest.

So I built one and am just about to start marketing it, so it's rather apt haha! So here is a shameless plug.

At the moment there are a few people that have signed up with no marketing, but there will be some members joining that I have spoken to! If you want to read some startup related books, I hope to see you on there! :)
The next book is The One Page Marketing Plan by Alan Dib, and in two weeks we'll be reading Company of One by Paul Jarvis!
Also I've got tonnes more features in the pipeline. Just getting the first version up and running!
I LOVE to read and would definite use something like this!
I am currently building one. 😂 it will be a fairly simple site and free to use. Users can vote on books to be read on weekly and monthly basis and post updates, discuss topics from the books.

Took a look at what you built, I like it but my concept was a little different. Tt would be more peer to peer. With scheduling (chapter and meetups) and the ability to recommend and select a book with a group of friends or an open group. Then some fun video chat features would be fun. Like the ability to toss reactions to the group leader etc.
Fair enough man. The issue I've realised is that just getting people together on one thing is difficult enough. That's why I went for the focused route.
I think the peer to peer idea is good, but then you're starting to go up against something like Goodreads, but hey if you're up to it, it'd be nice to see a competitor! :)
I see Good Reads and Amazon as potential partners in something like this. No reason to invent a new place to buy books etc when you can get set up as an Amazon affiliate and use their APIs.
