Remote jobs at the United Nations

I'm able to identify all the remote jobs currently available in the UN and its agencies.

  1. Where should I post them on a regular basis? I'm considering weekly posts on Reddit, maybe on Medium.
  2. What do you need to know about a remote job, in order to be interested?

Thanks!

    Hi Khodl,

I would be very pleased if you are able to do the posting at remoteworkjar.com where you would be able to connect with the right talent and vice-versa.

Please ask me if you have more questions. We are at the pre-launch stage but will be launching very soon. In the meantime, please subscribe so that you will get notified when we launch.

    Looking forward to your support.

      Nice web.
I keep it for indexing on vabiso.com when we implement the remote jobs filter

      1. 1

Sure. All the best with vabiso!

    2. 1

      Do you have any API?

      1. 1

We have an API in the roadmap. I will come back and post here when we launch.

          1. 1

You were asking API to post multiple jobs or consume the job listing and show in your apps?

            1. 1

The best would be that you call an API that I would do, but I can also post to your API the remote jobs I have.

Sure @Khodl, that can be arranged. How can I get in touch with you so that we can prioritize this on our roadmap?

You can DM me on Twitter, link on my IH profile 😇

A combination of medium (for SEO) and a google sheet like <reader> suggested. You could also add them here.

How about a simple Google Sheet?

    1. 1

I like the idea! Do you think people would regularly check it? Where would you suggest to publish that Sheet?

      1. 2

I like the idea of it being a google sheet.
At least it's a quick thing to do, he's an MVP.
In the future it would be a good idea to have your own website to be visually attractive (read the same google document if you want).

In case you're interested, a compilation that I found a while ago:

I am developing vabiso.com (a worldwide job seeker). When I have implemented the filter for remote jobs, I could import them periodically. https://www.indiehackers.com/post/project-idea-validation-job-search-with-map-9638ffb039

Nice list! I already have a website by the way 😅

I'm willing to open an API even for in-office jobs, it will definitely help you to populate some countries in the southern hemisphere, it's quite empty now :-)

Let me know if you're interested in importing from https://untalent.org

Any feedback on the design is welcome!

            Nice web

I keep it for indexing with other remote work websites.

In principle I don't need an API, I can make a scraper of the web. Although if you make an API I could use it, and I think it is a good idea so that other websites can use your data.

At the design level, what I see is that the mobile header is missing padding, and the header links should start with a capital letter.

            1. 1

Thanks for the feedback! I'll improve the header once I know how many links will be on it.

I don't like the scraping option, as it's using more resources and is changing the page views. An API, on the other hand, is easier to maintain on your side (so I'm not afraid to break things at each change) and also allows me to keep track of where the data is going.

              Which information do you need?

              1. 1

Well, for vabiso, I need a minimum:

                • Url where the user has to go when clicking to see the job
                • job title
                • text/description of the job. I don't show it on my website, but I use it for text searches
                • location (ideally with latitude and longitude) but I can use it if it's the street or city address When I import it I convert it with a geocoder to lat/lng

Right now I can use this.

In the future I want to be able to import categories, salaries, etc...

For the API do not think only of my case of use with Vabiso.
Think about what kind of webs/apps you want to use your data, and in what way.
Maybe it can be useful to filter by categories for example, in case there is an app that only wants jobs from one category.

                1. 1

Can you manage multiple locations? Some jobs require traveling in different cities/countries.

                  1. 1

                    Good point, great idea.
Well, not right now. But it doesn't have to be very complex to offer this functionality.

It would be to allow to have the location field with multiple values, and to add an option to be able to mark jobs that require to travel (to facilitate the filters).

Right now I haven't found any website where I have seen a job located in several places. What I have seen is that it is explained in the job description, but I cannot extract the information automatically from the text.

                    1. 1

Yep, I think it's specific to the UN. Most "traditional" companies would just use one city as a base without mentioning the other locations, I guess...

I started an API (you can find more information here), and will also prepare the full list, including non-remote jobs.

I also extracted the latitude and longitude, in case you want to use that and avoid mistakes with homonyms.
