I agree, we're on the precipice of a big shift in work-life culture. I went from being glue to a desktop monitor set up to working almost exclusively from my phone at my 9-5 with almost no loss.
Connections + the ability to communicate and drive action in peers will make the difference.

I happen to think that in-person networking and events are the future. Not necessarily just "networking events" but run clubs, sports meetups and any other shared interest people may have. Humans are social and we like to be actually around each other (at least for a little while), not communicate through a screen all the time. I think remote work just opens up the door for more interesting and maybe serendipitous in-person connections.
People like to build community where they are too, even if that happens to be many different places.

I fully agree. Short networking events that cater to what we love doing with people who share our common interest. And some build networks while other join networks. What type are you?
Thank you for your input, but I do disagree your statement "we like to be actually around each other". Many of us do not like to be actually around other people. We prefer solitude and the occasional personal interactions.
