REMVIDIO: Generate Real Estate videos from MLS listing

Hi all,

I built an MVP (https://remvid.io) that allows brokers and individuals who want to sell or rent their homes to easily generate videos on the fly from their MLS listings (Zillow and PropertyFinder to be more specific) in less than 4 minutes and share it on their Instagram stories and social media.

Steps are easy:

  • Put your listings link (or any other listings from Zillow)
  • Pick the photos you wanted
  • Fill the form with your information and press generate

After a couple of minutes, you will receive an e-mail with the download link of the video.

Example: https://download.remvid.io/assets/video/output/REInstaZillow_05_d5120ccd-65c2-41f7-a6a4-c9da5d9bdf21.mp4

I would like to get your feedback about the next steps I should be taking, I started thinking about monetizing it from now but I started thinking maybe I should sharpen more the product and then move to the monetization. Any inputs on this?

That looks great! Looks like video is the next indie hacker niche! haha

I've been building a video creation app, and thought about RE as a possible area to develop for (but started with ecommerce). A fellow San Diego IHer built one in his own niche as well.

The next step is something most people don't want to hear. I know I'm not doing what I should be: find a bunch of customers and start talking to them.

Sure, you can launch on ProductHunt, or post on reddit, or whatever else. But, unless you're lucky, it's not going to get you in front of your audience. I think you need to find real estate FB groups, forums, etc, and start talking to them about your app. Even better for you: find a local real estate meetup and local contacts, and start discussing with them.

    Why?

    • If you can get 10 customers that way, you can probably grow it.
    • You can find out if it solves a real problem they have.
    • You can find out what features they want and need the most.

If you do that, you're practically guaranteed to validate your app correctly (do agents want to use this?), and if it is valid, you'll get the best feedback about where to go from here - what features do they want? how could it be streamlined? what would make it part of their workflow?

Good luck :) I think you've got a cool product, now to find out if someone in real estate will pay for it!

Thank you Andrew for the feedback and the suggestions, it seems like it's the right way to discover more about the market and validate the idea first.
